Damn that's a lot of refugees, hope they manage to settle in well within Germany but I do wonder if this would change local politics and bring societal issues in the future.
They'll integrate well. They're Christian and white and are perceived to be fighters for democracy. They're also mostly women and many will end up in a relationship with German men.

Europe will benefit from all the new workers, but I'm not sure that's enough to offset permanently higher energy prices

I didn't know NATO was in the Pacific Ocean
Not too long ago. NATO was just NATO. It had a formidable reputation that everyone understands and respects.

Now, the Western MSM feels the need to shore up NATO's image with terms like: "more muscular", "bigger", "stronger", etc. Why? Well NATO is facing an identity crisis. The debacle in Afghanistan has eroded the image of NATO's infallibility. But the Ukraine conflict has cracked the image of NATO invincibility. Russia is proving, that NATO is not as omnipotent and all-powerful as they have claimed themselves to be.

So in order to save its falling reputation, NATO needs to find another front to throw its weight around: the Asia Pacific. NATO thinks that opening up another front with China is a good idea. They are soon gonna find out that China is not an inferior opponent than Russia. China can punch back just as hard, if not harder.

My only concern is that if NATO picks a fight with China, the racism against the Chinese people is gonna be far worse than the racism against Russians. Thus, the West and its allies could be open to do uglier things to the Chinese than what they have done to the Russians thus far.

Oh dear. Shell's CEO thinks the G7 oil price cap on Russia isn't going to work. Major embarrassment here.

“You can see all the flaws already,” he told Bloomberg on Wednesday, noting that the system would work only if there were broad participation beyond Europe and the US.

Otherwise, “you will continue to just see what is currently happening, which is Russian crude will go to countries that are perfectly OK to still purchase Urals [Russia’s main crude export grade], for instance,” he explained.

The Shell CEO explained it would be hard to replace large swaths of Russian oil and gas that still flow into Europe. “There will be more LNG supply coming into Europe, but will there be a lot of extra new LNG supply to plug the gap? I don’t think so,” Van Beurden said.

What was Janet Yellen thinking? Did she go to community college or something?
