Russia will never trust the West again – Kremlin

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told NBC News on Monday that Russia would “never trust [the] West again.”Amid a historic severing of relations, Peskov is not the only top Russian official ruling out a return to normal.

Telling NBC that the fallout over the Ukraine conflict would “be a long crisis,” Peskov predicted that relations would stay icy for good.

Would be nice if they just turn off the taps. Tho maybe they intend to do it at a later date.

They want to implement something like a buyer's cartel, they assume if the price is above the price cap they will all pledge not to buy Russian gas.
Europeans are once again delusional and want to play chicken on energy security.

EU, China Aim for Talks in Next Few Weeks, Ambassador Says

  • EU wants meetings on real bilateral issues, tangible benefits
  • April summit was described as ‘a dialog of the deaf’

Eurocrats think they can speak to China from a position of strength or something. Maybe China will politely tell them to F**k off this time?
Incredible arrogance and a deep misunderstanding of the issue here from the EU. The deal, as I recall, allows China to massively invest in EU renewable projects. The stupidity is really laughable.

China has given the EU (and the US) a list of conditions that must be met before China helps them with deal like this.

While the EU and US don’t believe they really have to meet these conditions, or at least not all of them. I think China is quite serious about the EU, and maybe has a little wiggle room with the US.

China can just keep giving the polite, “Conditions are not yet ready..”, response, she is in no rush, while the EU and US will end up shifting, and rightly so. Probably in an act of desperation.

Meanwhile, major deals seem to be happening every day between non-western countries and China.

  • The Netherlands and Denmark triggered emergency energy plans on Monday.
  • Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Austria signaled a shift to coal as an emergency fuel.
  • Europe is racing to secure alternative fuel supplies ahead of winter as Russia has cut gas supplies.
The Czech Republic announced a plan for "energy independence".

"If the gas is turned off this winter, we will burn everything we can to warm our people and generate electricity," said Vaclav Bartushka, the commissioner of the Czech Cabinet of Ministers for Energy Issues.

Maybe China should ask Europe to accept and declare that China is speaking to Europe from a position of strength

Didn't EU agreed back in April to ban import of Russian coal starting August ? Like to see how they "rationalize" themselves out of this one.

EU's full ban on Russian coal to be pushed back to mid-August -sources

Or China could do what I've been saying for ages, refuse to engage with the EU except via a similar international body like the SCO.

Countries within the EU are trading fine with China, problems only when the EU turn up on the door.

Every EU delegation consists of a unelected bureaucrats that most have never heard of. It's easy for them to do this as they aren't accountable to their electorate. Can you imagine the leader of France of Germany saying what these EU representatives say?

The EU as an institution can't claim to have a foreign policy while every member state sits in the UN. If the EU wants to be seen as anything more than an economic union they need to form a real federation and not pretend they are one.
