I think you mean China doesn't recognize dual citizenship.

Dual citizenship is usually attained in one of two ways: you are born with it, or you obtain it through immigration and naturalization.

In the first case, as I have linked above, China does not offer citizenship to children born in foreign countries to Chinese citizens who are permanent residents of that country, *unless* said country refused to give the child citizenship of that country.

In the second case, China's position is that the moment you obtain the citizenship of a second country, you automatically forfeit Chinese citizenship. So in this case, you don't need to explicitly renounce anything.

There is a third case, where an individual does need to explicitly renounce a non-Chinese citizenship in order to obtain Chinese citizenship. This can happen one of two ways:
  1. You have a non-Chinese citizenship by birth, but your parents are Chinese citizens and are not PR of another country. In this case, before you reach adulthood (not sure about exact age), you effectively enjoy the benefits of dual citizenship as China will give you all the rights and privileges of Chinese citizenship despite you having citizenship in another country. However, once you reach adulthood, you have the choice of retaining your non-Chinese citizenship and automatically forfeiting your Chinese citizenship, or you have to explicitly renounce your non-Chinese citizenship in order to be granted Chinese citizenship.
  2. You were a Chinese citizen who became a citizen of another country through immigration & naturalization. Now you wish to regain your Chinese citizenship. In order to do so, you must live in China, apply to the public security bureau of your original hukou location, and after a few years when your application is approved, you must now explicitly renounce your non-Chinese citizenship before becoming a Chinese citizen again.
Citizenship = nationality

Nationality =/= citizenship

Article 3 The People's Republic of China does not recognize dual nationality for any Chinese national.

GENEVA: Dozens of rights groups called on Wednesday (Jun 8) for the resignation of UN human rights chief Michelle Bachelet, charging that she "whitewashed" Beijing's "atrocities" during her trip to China last month.

I'm surprised they haven't claimed she was 'bought out' by Beijing with cash gifts. Maybe wumao at a time.

India rejects Environment Performance Index 2022 that ranked it 180th among 180 countries

What can I say? Jai Jai!

Not good to know Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan all have cleaner environments than India.
I too agree that this index is biased.

India, Ranked Lowest, Slams "Unscientific" Environment Performance Index
If it was "scientific" then there shouldn't have been an india in that index at all.
How come dung manufacturer is in the list but Somalia isn't? :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

More than 230 groups, many advocating for the rights of Uyghurs, Tibetans, and Hong Kongers, signed a joint statement calling for "the immediate resignation of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights".
I wonder how many genuine "Uyghurs, Tibetans and Hong Kongers" are staffing those groups, as opposed to individuals with skin tone and features resembling Adrian Zenz's extended family?

Here's the link to the full report from the recently published Environment Performance Index 2022.

China ranks 160 out of 180. U.S. ranks at 43 while Canada ranks at 49th place which is pretty high considering the country's geographical size and relatively small size of population at approximately 37 million people.

Forests and wetlands of the country are crucial carbon sinks but have not been factored in while computing the projected GHG emissions trajectory up to 2050 given by EPI 2022. Historical data on the lowest emission trajectory has been ignored in the computation, it said while rejecting the analysis.

In other words no thanks to anything they've done?

Hmm, reputation of "Made in Japan"...

We have heard news about frauds uncovered at Kobe Steel, Mitsubishi Electric. It happened again, this time with another well known Japanese brand, Kawasaki Heavy Industries.

Hmm, from what I could make out from the article, Kawasaki had been using data from a single commercial air conditioner that was ever tested at 100% load, and basically copy+paste that data to all machines that were only rated at 90% efficient, hoping their customers wouldn't run their aircons at full blast and bring down the whole building's air conditioning if/when the unit seizes...

Sounds more like actual fraud on top of inspection malpractice.
