Japan warns Ukrainian evacuees against work at adult entertainment establishments

Justice Minister Yoshihisa Furukawa said Friday that there have been cases in which Ukrainians who have fled to Japan were working in hostess clubs and other adult entertainment establishments, warning that such work is not allowed under their visa status.

“There have been cases in which evacuees (from Ukraine) have been reported to be working at certain types of establishments they are not allowed to” work at, Furukawa said after a Cabinet meeting.

A total of 1,055 Ukrainians had fled to Japan as of Wednesday, according to the government. Evacuees are allowed to switch to a visa status that allows them to stay in Japan for a year and work.

But the residential status does not allow them to work at hostess clubs, bars or adult entertainment facilities that are restricted under the adult entertainment law.

Furukawa said the Immigration Services Agency has sent written notifications to Ukrainian evacuees to make them aware such work is a violation of their visa status.

The minister expressed concerns that some evacuees could become victims of human trafficking.
Globally, the United Nations’ refugee agency has said that some Ukrainian refugees have become victims of human trafficking, while UNICEF in March warned children fleeing the war are at heightened risk of human trafficking and exploitation.

Interesting, the US is now calling for the dismemberment of the Russian polity. I hope Russia takes this very seriously. Of course, Russia could in return implement a demographic solution to restore the continental US to its pre-Colombian demographic mix as well.

What a sight that would be.
This article does have valid points about Russian colonialism and imperialism but unfortunately, it is a one-sided garbage propaganda piece. For example, the article fails to mention that the US is guilty of the same things - it resides on stolen lands, refuses to grant autonomy to the rightful owners (Natives), and continues to exert imperial foreign policy. Any decent article on anti-imperialism and de-colonization would call for the dismantlement of both Russian AND American colonial possessions, which in the case of the US would mean all of their territories. And let's not forget about other colonial states like Canada or Australia, British and French overseas posessions, ongoing French colonialism in Africa, etc. Btw, most of the good anti-colonial pieces are primarily written by non-white people because they present the horrors of colonialism without trying to white-wash them and not framing the piece as "colonialism was horrible BUT ackshually my country was different".

All, subject to more experienced Moderators intervening, the subject of "adult entertainment" is not relevant to our conversations here. Let's focus on the Defence, Security, International Relations, and Geopolitics angles. Other conversations can be addressed elsewhere.

A GOP senator thought that it will be a very good idea to take a dig at the NBA for apparently "politicizing" the recent Uvalde school shooting while "earning bucks off the slave labors in Xinjiang".

Needless to say, the comment section is FAR, FAR from being generous to him.

I agree.

Why would the senator not voice support fro porper and tighter gun contr-

Oh...

So that's the reason.

Like I said, Western (the US in particular) politicians and Baizuos are more (selectively) concerned about the people thousands of kilometers away than the people of their own.

What a strange twist of logic, isn't it?

I must say that this is inaccurate and may be unfair to the US. They inherited the land from UK in the original 13 colonies.

To remain consistent in application of international law we may consider the US to indeed have legal sovereignty within the 1776 borders of the original 13 colonies only, east of the Appalachian mountains.
