Russia expects the economy to contract by 8.8% in 2022 in its base case scenario, or by 12.4% under a more conservative scenario, an economy ministry document showed on Wednesday, further evidence that sanctions pressure is taking its toll.
The conservative forecast is in line with that of former finance minister Alexei Kudrin, who said earlier this month the economy was on track to contract by more than 10% this year in its biggest decline in gross domestic product since 1994.
Inflation, which has already soared to 17.62% as of April 15, is seen accelerating to as high as 22.6% this year, the document showed, and remaining well above the central bank's 4% target in 2023.

@Overbom bro it's very unfortunate BUT in exchange, gaining territory worth more than $250 billion the West stole. Like the Crimean Crisis in 2014, the Russian will bounce back as the Ruble had regain its strength. So Who are the losers? aside from the Ukrainian that may not exist in its current form, We may see Germany deindustrialized, Poland, the Baltic state and Bulgaria a frontline armed state and finally EU disintegration.

Not that bad considering the plethora of sanctions. Meanwhile Superpower USA's economy just contracted.

Don't take me wrong, this was a necessary evil. Russia had to take Ukraine, consequences be damned.

Normally, I would say that Russia has suffered a huge strategic defeat, but fortunately for China and the rest of the world, the West used their financial sanctions and stole Russian money thus forcing the world to realise what is the real value of Western currencies (its zero).

In addition this has also forced Russia to start on a separate financial system and also decoupling energy/raw material exports from Western currencies. This will ultimately proven to be a gigantic blow to Western countries and their economies.
