Even if this conflict ended tomorrow, they'll still have to contend with commodity shortages and industry disruptions because of covid and sanctions, but with this conflict, those problems will be exacerbated. Its highly likely this war will last until the end of the year.

They are not only preoccupied, their whole "transatlantic integration" scheme means that European inflation gets exported right back to them too lmao which is why prices in NA are also skyrocketing. It's own goal after own goal.

Barr said that this would allow Europe to still get its energy supplies from Russia, but only on condition of withdrawing from Ukraine and using the proceeds for humanitarian purposes.

The idea of an escrow account for oil profits has gained backing from a number of other countries and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said Tuesday it was one of the options the bloc would explore to target oil.

It's mainly private diplomacy for now as they are hopeful that India will switch. No signs of that yet though.

At some point America will just say to India, we won't support you if China invades. That will be a big blow for India as Modi has been trying to move into the American sphere for years now.

I don't think India is doing Russia a favour for altruistic reasons, it's just business. Like typical Indians, they have driven a very hard bargain for the oil they are importing from Russia. I think it is around half of current market rates right now, much less than what China is paying. Even with the military, you can't replace that overnight, and what will they replace it with? American platforms that they can't afford? Russian platforms are the only cost effective one given that the Chinese option isn't available for them.

They are in a tough situation with no winning outcome IMO.

India is not beholden to any alliances. India had developed one of the largest financial market outside developed world.
India will take this opportunity to slush around funds from other countries.
