Honest question. Is anyone even paying a subscription for that crap? I feel dirty even pirating these articles

There is some truth to it. If, hypothetically, NATO escalated in lock-step when Russia was deploying troops, AND NATO made it clear that it would defend Ukraine as if Ukraine were a NATO country, then there would be more likely than not that Russia would have backed off. Instead, NATO capitulated even before Russia had issued any nuclear bluff. Therefore, the thesis, that NATO wanted Russia to get bogged down in Ukraine in the first place, has some truth to it. Putin made a bold call. He was right both in reaction as well as in timing. That is also part of the reasons I keep saying, as of now, both Putin and US are winning, except for EU (the biggest loser hands down).

Putin threatened nuclear war before he stepped into the Ukraine. He gave a speech where he said any declaration of article 5 against Russia would lead to the start of a nuclear war.

I'm sure that was something the Americans considered doing in the build up, but decided against. First it would be deeply unpopular with many major NATO countries and it would only take one to veto it. Even without NATO, America could have unilaterally announced an alliance with the Ukraine, but you'd still run into the same problem. There's every chance that Putin would have called America's bluff and invaded. Even now, I've read that Americans have rejected the Ukrainian request to support it's neutrality in a hypothetical peace deal. Americans have decided to keep the façade of a 30+ nation alliance intact.

There's no indication yet America wants to fight a nuclear war with Russia and would prefer it to be a proxy/economic war. Biden has gone out his way not to acknowledge the nuclear threat, and play down any possibility of WW3. From the NATO/American perspective I think that's a bad move.

If my suspicions are correct, once the Ukraine is done Putin may continue the war into a NATO member, either Poland or the Baltics. If that happens, we'll see how real the NATO alliance is.

Some of my apartment co-tenants are Indian and they're annoying. Some of my new colleagues are Indian and they paste Xi Jinping Winnie the Pooh memes on the office wall.

I don't know if life is worth living anymore lol

Singapore Least Based Country in Asia. What a sore disappointment.

EDIT: what's even worse, the previous apartment I rented, the next unit neighbor blasted his Bollywood music so loud, I could hear it clearly through the thick concrete walls. Vibrations and all that.

Really. Is life worth living anymore with this kind of people around? They can go ahead and accidentally fire all their missiles for all they like....

Also, a lot of these Indian construction workers (not the white collar ones) like to loiter around at 8pm on the streets and drink alcohol and video call their relatives at max volume. Time to relocate out of the Singapore office! I mean Indiapore.

Lebanon's central bank not bankrupt, governor says

"Unfortunately, the state is bankrupt, as is the central bank, so we have a problem ... the loss has occurred," Deputy Prime Minister Saade Chami said during an interview on Sunday.

Central Bank Governor saying they haven’t gone bankrupt but the Deputy Prime Minister is saying that the state is bankrupt.

Well I guess they aren’t technically wrong either since they are in “negotiations” with the IMF for money.

Looks like Lebanon is on the verge of defaulting.
