Aus senator didnt forget to whip up anti China paranoia even during this time. Either that or he has gone full retard.

Never mind. Reading further down the article he was addressing the Henry Jackson think tank. Think Robert barwick mentioned this is a fanatical neo conservative organization.

Where do they get all these crazy ideas... A significant portion of Australian minorities are of Chinese descent. Some of them are pro-Chinese government, others are anti-Chinese government. Some of the pro-Chinese government people get elected because of public sentiments. Deal with it.

Oh China should worry….. about what to do to australia in the event that China blows up an Australian destroyer that somehow came too close to Chinese shore when the idiot ship broke down from trying to do an early reconnaissance with a ship that is half a tank full. Seriously if a US nuclear sub got into trouble with a mysterious under water mountain that doesn’t exist, what makes Australia that has no such weapons think they would fare any better. Clearly Gallipoli isn’t enough of a lesson that without the US (uk doesn’t count because when they somehow managed to be even more stupid despite having better gear), australia could be taken down by Indonesia of all places.

It is just comical that these people wanted China to resolve the world problem when it benefits them. Most of these problems were not initiated by China but by the Western powers.

For now, China might be happy to watch things play out. But, unfettered, these forces are likely to create nothing but misery and a Eurasian backyard in which China will find itself the dominant power watching over chaos.
And while in the short term it might be possible to find some benefit from this situation, in the longer term, it will spill over and ultimately create problems that Beijing cannot just watch from the sidelines.
