To quote the last paragraph:

"
The point to take away from this quick review of the data is that the American economy is so integrated with China that China has become the marginal price-setter for large parts of the US economy. The Trump tariffs on a wide range of Chinese imports failed to slow, let alone reverse, America’s dependence on China. The United States doesn’t have the capital stock or skilled labor to meet a surge in demand, and Americans paid up for Chinese goods because they couldn’t get them anywhere else.
"

I have a long-held view that the real dollar/rmb ration should be 5, for more than 10 years. There are many non-financial factors that have been setting the market rate well above 5. I am not going to argue what should happen. I just wonder what would happen if that rate was approaching 5, probably in 5/10/15 years down the road.

My @CNNBrasil interview regarding Maidan massacre: "In a Zoom conversation, Professor Katchanovski told me the result of the investigation he carried out into the Maidan massacre, an essential event in the destabilization and change of government in Ukraine." (2022-02-19)

"He analyzed video footage, the result of ballistic tests that show bullet trajectories, spoke with witnesses and has no doubt: the protesters killed in the square were murdered by snipers who were positioned in buildings controlled by the protesters"

"“In fact,” he said, “two of these snipers were captured by the protesters and, after being handed over to the leaders of the movement, they disappeared.” Three months of protests ended with the murder of around 50 protesters on February 20, 2014."

"President Viktor Yanukovych, who had already agreed to bring forward the presidential elections, left the country. Before the uprising began, Yanukovych had refused to sign a cooperation agreement with the European Union."

There are those who call this whole process a coup – Russia. But the new government was immediately recognized by NATO allies. Eight years after the massacre and the change of government, nobody is arrested or convicted for Maidan massacre in Ukraine.

CNN Brazil: American diplomat, historian, and professor Jack F. Matlock Jr. in a University of North Carolina publication: "The crisis that the world is now following, step by step, has its roots in the so-called Ukrainian Revolution of 2014, which reflects this historic divide."

CNN Brazil: "Later, between 1987 and 1991, he was the American ambassador to Moscow... And here, when talking about the revolution that brought protesters together in Maidan Square, the historian and ambassador cites research by University of Ottawa professor Ivan Katchanovski."

What's your answer to this yet another proof that Russian action against Ukraine no matter how contemptible in your analysis is being done because Russia and Putin has been left with no alternative CHOICE @Phead128
Unfortunately we probably won't ever get a straight answer, but instead a broken record playing "no matter what, evil Russia is grabbing land", "believe me, China is against evil Russia annexing even though nobody heard of it", blah blah blah. All sounds like Colin Powell and Blinken in the UN.

[addition]
It reminds me a person who claimed to be a Danish diplomat arguing with me in the comment area of "the diplomat" web site. It happened during the Crimea crisis. The person insisted on China openly stand on Western side, openly condemn Russian act, denying China having a choice of remaining silent and neutral. At the end he threatened China for consequences if China refuse to comply to western demand. Then I told him, be careful with your tongue, you may get one more enemy (China) than if you just remain humble.

There are just so many people in the west who is so used to US dominating the world that they would fight at any moment when they see "injustice" by non west people/countries, but remain silent or claim powerless to real western injustice. A moral hypocrite.
