@KYli bro your likely candidate? surprising coming from NYT the saltiness is palpable BUT they still hold the premise wrong. Xi priority is to cleanse the Party and strengthen it, the coming competition with the US had been projected (see the only good thing they learn from the US) when he assume office as he had some background regarding US politics and policy during his stay there. The Pandemic respond, Trump trade war and now the tech war is a good training for upcoming leaders and Xi will guide them thru. It will be his legacy and even though he abolish term limits, China politics, policy and power transition will be smoother, as everybody in the party is reminded of their task , a Rejuvenated China and its place in the world.

For me the West antagonistic attitude is a plus factor in Xi cleansing effort, a major motivating factor. We may see and know his successor by 2025, with major bottleneck in China Industrial, Scientific and Tech Sector being address, and the society prepare as the Chinese economy enter the Fourth Industrial stage.

Where's the hashtag in Korea or Japan or Southeast Asian regarding this? When there was an incident with the African community in China, there were trending hashtags Chinese racist and for them to leave Africa. Where is the anger here asking Americans to leave japan to Korea?

Further evidence that US social media controls the narrative. If china has so many bots like western media have often claim, why are these bots not busy whipping up a frenzy about this in Asian countries? Instead US media and US controlled social media are reporting on controversy regarding hangbok clothing WTF.

I feel now more than ever china should have agents on Twitter and Reddit and all those social media places to try to defend itself and making other narratives. How about getting some Korean Chinese ethnic minority agents try to influence Korea social media? Just like the US does. Or drown out the Indians on YouTube.
One thing that the US media doesn’t mention is that the censorship cuts in more than one way.

When the racism against the Africans was starting to go viral, the government quickly started to root out those posts on social media. Similarly, when Han Chinese called out for retaliation against Uighurs over riots and terrorism, again this was censored. This is the one major upside to heavy censorship.

Both sides of the US political spectrum wish they had this power. They just don't agree on who to shut up.

China probably could unleash such bots if they wanted. I think the reality is that it is a low priority. When private companies can put up just as much money as the government to spread questionable information (Sportify/Joe Rogan, Fox News, Newsmax, etc.), then the job is done for you.

You are really cruel, you know?
Mental health is NO JOKE.

“Many of the victims were beaten by Hong Kong police, or were close with someone who was shot or killed during the protests,” the source said.

Considering not a single person was killed, many people are suffering from delusion. They are imagining the brutal death of their imaginary friends! Proof that they need serious mental health aid.
