True. Russia will act as Germany' energy supplier for transitioning to a green economy. This is going to last for 20 years max. Plenty of time for Russia to push for more concessions by the EU. However in the long term EU will wean off Russia's gas.
This is why Germany is taking a softer approach towards Russia.

In fact US aggressiveness towards Russia also conveniently targets German industry..

For some reason, you remind me of Indian Jai Hind nationalists in terms of level of delusion. What I mean is Ukraine finds EU/West more economically attractive, while Russian economy is in the dumpsters. In the short-term, Russia can get away with intimidating Ukraine with brute force, but in long-term, you need to offer economic incentives/benefits to keep Ukraine in your influence/orbit and compete with EU/West, not only some stupid compressor turbines from Gazprom.

Does this just apply to Russia or China too?

I look at stats and countries like Australia Japan South Korea are getting very rich trading with China. Heck, they even trade more with China than with the US.

Going by your economic benefits theory, shouldn't these rabidly anti China societies be Beijing's bffs since the dragon presents more trade and economic opportunities than the US?

WTF, this is the worst bigotry that I have not even encountered in the west. Probably part of the reason of their failure is that they are brainwashed by their own enemy in alienating a possible friend and their narrow minded religious view. It is good that China also bet on the Israelis.
