@Sardaukar20 I wanted to ask you as a Malaysian. Geely bought a majority stake in Proton the national carmaker of Malaysia. What does Geely see in Proton? All I know is that Proton is a shitty carmaker, maybe worse than Tata Motors.

I think it is because the Malaysian Auto market is very protectionist with extremely high taxes imposed on imported cars and the government does not allow external brands to assemble and manufacture autos. Proton presented an opportunity for Geely to indirectly enter the Malaysia auto market to bypass the protectionist policies.

Proton was a dying brand, steadily bleeding market share to Perdua, Toyota, Honda. But they have factories, a relatively complete and mature supply chain, gov connections, sale channels and bad need a takeover. Geely saved on the need to rebuild all these ground up by take half stake in Proton and instantly gain a foothold in a prominent South East Asian market. win-win

All they need to watch is the Malaysian gov, they tend to ask for share sales after seeing a successful business, sometimes they force a national takeover then proceed to run these companies into ground, only to be offloaded to a foreign investors. Rinse and repeat.

I was watching cable news this morning and saw some interview with a WSJ reporter who wrote an article saying the US can contain China despite how the West is dependent on China. He says the West should do what they've already been doing for decades. Apparently he thinks the West hasn't been scrutinizing and pressuring China for all these years and the West shouldn't stop until China changes to the West's liking. Just like the West to take the old and make like it was new. They were talking on this show how Hong Kong, Xinjiang, Australia, Taiwan, the South China Sea... all happened without any provocation by the West. They were all provoked by the West because they always try to get others to do their dirty work. We all know the US is paying Hong Kongers to riot. The West is using Uighurs to get Islamic extremists to deflect from the US to China. Australia was doing Trump's dirty work. The US has always supported Taiwan to use against China. The Vietnamese were the first to build fake islands to stake territory. Yeah, none of that is provoked by the US... You know the West has had some backdoor strategy meetings when all start saying the same things as if everyone saw the same problems because the latest is China started these tensions out of the blue and China is on the path to self-destruction. And why do they say this is because they're playing mind-games and hoping China changes course and submits to Western demands. I thought they want China to self-destruct. Doesn't that take China out of the picture for them? That was another bluff. They want China to surrender to the West by being scary about the future. Like I said before... They can't allow a China that is independent and be successful because that might give other countries ideas. That's why they can never leave China alone.

Russia demands NATO to deny membership to Ukraine. NATO says no way. Looks like both sides have a looong way to go to reach the middle ground, if there will ever be one:

Meanwhile, the US once again showed the hypocrisy at its finest with this (emphasis mine):

The White House similarly said it's discussing the proposals with U.S. allies and partners, but noted that all countries have the right to determine their future without outside interference.

Dementia Joe must have forgotten what he said to another country, a few weeks ago. Honduras: "Sir, I don't want to be with Taiwan anymore." The US: "You do. And shut the f--k off."

They may never leave China alone, but they can never stop China from progressing and passing them without regret.
