Putin says it all: the US is sanctioning both Russia and China (unsuccessfully in China's case). Russia see China treating Russian interests with respect. Why the hell would Russia throw that away to align with the US?
The more interesting question is why there are still people clinging on to this obvious delusion?

You are using the definition of democracy as hijacked by the West, which is namely multiparty elections.
We have seen that multiparty elections do not necessarily bring about democracy. Just because people are voting doesn't mean they really have a choice.
They are hoping post-Putin with be Western aligned and quasi-alliance against China (e.g. "Reverse Nixon")
They hope that converging interests in Central Asia (where Russia dominates via CSTO and China dominates via economy) or frictions over Siberian Artic Northern Sea route will erupt into another 'Russo-Sino split'.
China is careful to manage it's relationship with Russia, as friends, good friends, not allies, not enemies. Both sides know how West will play each other off for their own advantage.
There was a spike in commodity prices in the first 6 months. Just wait until the end of 2022.
Because the American/British media is extremely good at creating alternative realities. Come on, how many the collapse of the Chinese economy articles we had just this year? They were literally talking about the collapse of China while their economies were smaller than their Q4 2019 sizes despite printing like crazy. We had articles in early-2020 on how China could only stop the pandemic by transitioning to a democracy. We had articles on how China's boycott of Australian coal was causing widespread blackouts so people were going to freeze in winter. In that reality, Russia would of course side with the USA against China. They may as well list Darth Vader, Sauron and Borgs on the US side too. That's how trustworthy they are.
What would your definition of democracy be then? I know that there are several versions of it.
Australia with its system of compulsory election would be an example .

Lol. Refined petroleum is not "sophisticated", there are petroleum refineries all over the world. What kind of sophisticated fuels does Russia produce that no other country does? Please, provide a list and citations. Also provide a citation on the highlighted part, please, and also a citation that other refineries (e.g. in KSA or SK) are not "computerized control". For now, all of this sounds like the "sophisticated" Australian beef or coal that they claimed China could not replace.

Energy (fuels, crude oil, gas, etc.) constituted and oil & gas accounted for 50% of the federal budget. KSA was mostly forced to stop their strategy due to , not Russia. Do you have citations on their extraction costs being as high as Russia? Heavily doubt it.
Demonstrably false as the Russian economy went into recession in 2014-2015 due to the sanctions and the oil glut which crashed the oil prices. Russian GDP still cannot get to the 2013 high of $2.3 trillion, even the current 2021 projections for the Russian nominal GDP by IMF is only $1.7 trillion. There's a big difference between "being able to feed itself" and the economy "being just fine", unless you meant "surviving" literally as in "the state will not cease to exist". Russia is certainly far more self-reliant than KSA, no arguments there.
TSMC has some talent in some fields that will be replaced in West and Russia. TSMC fully depended on Jews/Russian working in Germany and US.
Do you know how many trillions US spend in Middleast due to USSR? start with 1956 Suez crises. and Trillions in Oil embargoes/ Camp David treaties.
