I mean the whole nation of Russia came together for him and he embarrassed Russia onstage. Russia hired like the athletic coach of Juventus FC or something to train him physically for the competition.

Then he was given dedicated space and time to use the best Russian supercomputer in Moscow to perform chess calculations so as to train against Carlsen. I mean how often does a person get to use the country's best supercomputer for personal training lol???

“You’re more sure that your analysis is good when you see 500 million node positions than, say 100 million,” added the 30-year-old, before downplaying how much having a supercomputer on call 24/7 might actually help.

Then they handpicked the very best Russian grandmasters to be his seconds (ie his brainstorming mates). And they rushed Sergey Karjakin, super grandmaster who once challenged Magnus for the world title in the 2016 edition on a last minute plane ticket to Dubai to aid his cause 24 hrs ago. And then he responded by screwing up the next game completely a few hours ago.

Gonna get assassinated by a Russian hitman anytime now. He made Russian chess look like a joke.

WHT chess when Chinese or Asian people should help popularize Go or Wei Qi around the world. Why do we need to always adopt to Western games when there's a far more older Wei Qi that's actually far more complex than western chess.

I think chess, the Western version, was invented in China or India, something like that. It did not come from the west.

OH COME ON

Are you making fun of CHESS and video games?

Have you ever tried playing them competitively? They are the real deal.

You've obviously never experienced the pain of being locked on by Pudge before. Or getting slowly skewered by the London System in chess.

I assure you, esports and chess are very mentally challenging and competitive. Don't make fun of them! I certainly don't mean PacMan or Tetris, but DOTA, StarCraft etc. They are million dollar businesses. You think people compete in million dollar eSports and chess games because they are stupid people?

@B.I.B. Ding Liren is disappointed in you

Ding Liren is the first player since 2007 to beat Magnus Carlsen in a playoff.

I'm well aware that chess requires a certain degree of intellect and it was not my intention to ridicule chess. My sincere apologies if it came across in this manner. However I brought up the subject of chess to emphasize the fact that calling computer games no matter how complex and mentally challenging Imo is not a sport.
Prior to the Last Summer Olympics because of comments on how bloated the games and had become a sports program ran a live on air survey to determine what should be only considered pastimes and not be considered for sporting classification. Esports, rockclimbing , breakdancing fell into this category by a big margin.

Personally, I think President Xi did a good thing by restricting the amount of time young people spent gaming.
I have plenty of family members who play complex games of the type you refer to however they do not hold any interest for me.

Something's going on in the internet. I've noticed a lot of sites not working. No fast food apps I check out are working. I haven't been able to use Microsoft Edge for a week for some reason.

China already invited Chinese Indonesians to flee in 1962. Most refused.

You can only get help if you want help.
Reading Wikipedia does not make you expert in this field yo only know half of the story. And most of them left China in 1960's for Hongkong because they were maltreated during the cultural revolution So yes these people make a right decision not to return to China. My relative is one of them He now live in Canada. This is the most BS I ever heard Imagine you work hard all your life and built factory, store, business and you are going to lost all of them suddenly? Most of them also can't speak Chinese and highly westernized and so many generation remove from China. How are they going to adjust life in China ? you tell me BTW. The reason they left Indonesia because of the big mouth Zhou Enlai in the speech saying that overseas Chinese has duty to support China. These speech so alarm the Indo that they question and demand Change the dual citizenship that most Chinese had at that time. China since Qing and republic time always follow the Jus Sanguinis law. China in 1950's was isolated and in order to curry favor with Indo and Malaysia they agree to end the Jus Sanguinis principle. He latter reverse the course By discontinuing the dual citizenship. and basically sold out the Indo Chinese without even consulting them That is the famous duplicity of CCP. BTW Israel is not the only one that follow Jus Sanguinis law, Germany does too I once worked with Volga German and Danzig German too, Turkey also follow this principle

Another thing those repatriation program was halted halfway around because China was in the grip of GLF causing so much suffering for people who choose to return to China but cannot, They can't go to school, They can't do business, They are stuck. They can't do nothing basically making them pauper and destroy their life

Those student are young people they have no problem adjusting life Even most of them are now out That is why in Hongkong now they have half million Chindo and their descendant
