Thats correct, native Indonesians Malays are lazy (ohhh wait, they are not really native, they are just another immigrant, just come earlier) compare to super efficient and hard working Indonesian Chinese.

But I don't believe because Chinese are far superior, the main reason is/was their mindset as an immigrant, they thought they have to work hard and better educated to compete. OTOH, the bumiputera/"native" is consistently brainwashed that they own the land, se, etc and "we" are very rich ... in essence, just don't do anything as we are "rich" ;)
indeed. The immigration generation of Chinese really worked hard to provide for their families. And many of them left mainland to escape war, hardship so it’s easy to understand they grab their opportunities with both hands to make a better life. My grandad was in that situation. I am forever in awe of his bravery to leave his hometown before the age of 16 at least that’s wat he told us, bless his soul, to far away country .

What are their possible responses?

1. Respond as if the post was real:
- Doesn't matter what the response is, it will just cement in people's minds that Peng was sexually assaulted by Zhang. Even if the media plays up the consensual aspect, Zhang's reputation will be destroyed, and legally he would need to be investigated. All for a photoshop'd image.

2. Deny the post is real.
- What if Peng got compromised and went public with the claim that the post was real? Then the Chinese media would lose a huge amount of credibility. Peng isn't exactly trustworthy to start with (search for "我女儿是彭帅" to see what kind of mom she has).
To be honest I’m dun know anymore. The last couple weeks western media milked this for anti China propaganda reasons that I’m all depleted from this issue. as a pro China dude, and also a tennis fan it’s double whammy. tennis forums are no go for me now, the mood is poisonous. Even for non political forums the atmosphere is very anti China. I was upset and thought a reaction from China would be better than nothing but now I’m not sure anymore. now that US officially “boycotting” Beijing winter OG, maybe the issue will die down .

This thing is so stupid to hear about over and over again.

Give her the benefit of the doubt and say she is truthful. Yet somehow there are 30,000 articles talking about the bravery of this rich white man who is simply giving up some money vs. Peng who according to him has given up her life. Enough with the white saviour complex already?

I also enjoy the wokeness of our white saviours pointing out the indignities they forced upon indigenous peoples in the past, yet somehow they have no issue with the WTA and EU issuing edicts to show Peng is safe on THEIR terms. Conveniently ignoring all the troublesome cultural context that entails.

Now let's put aside any geopolitics, history, race, or gender issues. Using only common sense and logic, this is a woman with wealth and means. Let's also assume she has half a brain. No one is so naive that they would think making a loaded public statement would not bring problems. If she feared for her life (or that of her cat and mother as the Daily Mail would have you believe), then she could simply have used her money to leave the country and make these denouncements where she is "safe".

the narrative has been twisted beyond recognition by western propagandaists, most of public hardly even know the original Weibo post, it’s direct translation or context. It’s all spun into just China bad, metoo movement crap.
WTA and ATP are two faces of the same coin. China should stop hosting these tennis tournaments from organisations that don’t respect China.

Hosting tennis tournaments makes no difference to player development. Players rise through good tennis academies. Not hosting tournaments.

Another thing, I have zero respect for Peng Shuai. Selfish woman. She is not a victim, she is the problem. All of these problems is caused by her.

yes the corelation isn’t strong. player development is more about talent spotting, opportunities to take up the sports and trainIng With good coaches and at academies. Hosting tournaments gives only some prestige. Shanghai hosted atp masters for long time however there are still no elite chinese mens tennis players.
the tournaments do help develop and promote the game locally. Create an competitive environment for elite international players to come and play. Moreover usually there are wild cards given to local players at local tournaments it provide opportunities for local players to play against them. It’s not ideal to not have any international tennis tournaments in China but yeah I guess you are right , it won’t hurt players development too much.

if all Peng wrote is true, I dun think she deserves all the hate. She was probably hurt as a jilted mistress and was manipulated by a man of power who isn’t a saint himself. i dun know if she intended for this to be an international new topic too. She said and did all the right things to refute claims of her being disappeared.
Or just create a new “Woman’s Tennis Association” in China and take over the WTA trademarks since the original one left the country and presumably surrendered their trademark rights by not operating in the region.
I’m not sure how the trademark legal work. But for other factors, in practical terms, this is hard to do. China already has their domestic version right now with just chinese players. if things return to normal, to create a rival association or league and attract elite international players to join is difficult. We saw this with the European football super league, consisting of only the elite super big clubs, that tried to breakaway. It’s failed before even got started. Chinese WTA version will be even tougher as there are so many individual players from different countries involved. Trying to attract them with money isn’t enough.

sorry I just wanted to reply. Think this is the last I will write about this issue. It dragged too long already for a affair. Everyone here i think is sick of it already.

The West is so full of it telling China what they say is to China's best interests. The side that openly wants to undermine China's economy to prevent the end of Western supremacy in the world thinks it's giving good advice. Why do they care about China's zero tolerance COVID policy? If it's bad for China, isn't that good for the West? Maybe they're being diabolical but no they're just acting on selfish instinct. They're acting on their greed. Their international corporate operators can't take a few weeks in quarantine which only shows if China can and they can't, they need the money more hence why they complain.

Well, China can create a sporting body with countries that are not aligned with US. Finding the initiative is upto China.

The West is already losing it in the mere thought of having to enter lockdown while China remains open. They are so paniked that they have deployed their propaganda machine

No one is forcing Chinese people to immigrate to another country and abandon their homeland, once you are a citizen of another country, China has no obligation to defend you
The same reason i have no sympathy for Chinese youths who are willingly take risks to go to america and then got shot/robbed, or arrested by the fbi for being a scientist and Chinese at the same time
They watched the news, they knew that america is a crime infested cesspool, and anti-China hysteria almost reached nazi germany hatred towards the jews
They know the risks and they choose to take the risks, no sympathy
I am an ethnic Chinese who lives in australia, and if worst comes to worst, i will make preparations to defend myself and my family i will not expect China to come to save my ass
Same here. as an overseas Chinese myself, I am fully aware of China‘s non interference policy to other countries internal affairs. we all know the risks Involved overseas. I know why China have this policy. China had suffered terribly in the past when foreign countries interfered in chinese domestic affairs and civil wars. I’m happy with the fact China do not imitate US interventionist policies. At same time also understand where posters like hendrick is com8ng from. back then I already disagree with his take on China intervening militarily during the Indonesian rioting and violence towards local Chinese. As someone coming from this background it was personal to me , even though our family is fortunate enough to not be affected by it. But I understand where people are coming from, however I hope they can be rational and not hot headed about this especially for respectable posters , it’s disappointing to see Indian propaganda media being used . That’s not on.

That will be interesting. But China is more about international cooperation. we can see that from their official statements. Even when they are getting resistance china prefer diplomacy and cooperation. I believe they are true to their word. China always been consistent in their efforts and stance. From Taiwan to green energy to olympics to common prosperity. I think China is unlikely to do that right now. Also to set up a rival sporting body opposed to current international body will be not easy to say the least.
Unless the ban is absolute like nasa on international space station , and China went at it alone , I doubt that’s the way China will go that way. In terms of tennis, I don think it will even get that far. WTA is all about making a show right now when covid suspended all events. We will see how it goes after that.
