China can't provide you with that. Here's what China can do for you:
1. Give you a refugee visa in case of mass violent persecution like those given to Chinese Vietnamese and Chinese Indonesians.
2. Offer you study and business opportunities.
3. Offer you longer and less restrictive visas than to non ethnic Chinese.
That's about it. This is available to those who want the help. Many Chinese Indonesians refused the help - understandably, since their lives are in Indonesia and didn't want to lose everything. They made their decision and the rest was history.
Note this is relatively generous. For example US doesn't offer ex-citizens much except tax audits.
Do not want to drag this OT too far but it's worth some clarfication. I wouldn't call it "worship", in particular if it was the authorities being discussed.
The root cause is that the Chinese government was overly cautious, serious and rigid in handling foreign affairs. It used to (maybe still does) take civil disputes and criminal cases involving foreigners as foreign affairs first. In practice, there were also turf wars between the government branches. And you can guess which group always won.
In the end, local authorities, in particular the police departments, were demotivated and disincentivized to deal with foreigners equally and fairly.

The US flew U-2s and other spy planes regularly over China. The US didn't seem to care about respecting Chinese airspace yet China is throwing it into the US's face when China flies into Taiwan's ADIZ? The only reason the US stopped flying U2s over China was because China gained the capability to shoot them down and not because the US respected international law. The late Donald Rumsfeld hated China because one of his best buddies was illegally flying over China on spy missions and got shot down. Now wouldn't an international law abiding American know the US violated the law thus Donny doesn't have a reason to hate China so much. I guess it's white privilege that makes China in the wrong.
Its got to be more than just dollars for the guy to continually do what he's doing.

He is not working for dollars. He is very patriotic and he works as a secret MSS agent planted to spread disinfo in the USA.
