I personally feel that it wouldn't make much of a difference. Western media is so ingrained and a self perpetuating echo chamber is real hard for anyone else to take the initiative.

His father is an officer and an instructor in the PMA, due to his father influence he had enter the academy and was protected. He join the Navy cause that service arm is the most cushy job that require no combat activity. So his military service is laughable without any combat experience, his only shoot to fame is he is a talker and boy he talk tough, act tough but devoid of substance. His win in the Senate is a protest vote and he use his position to make money, his retainer is not cheap being an attack dog to destroy his employer opponent. As the result he can blackmailed his former employers (the Ayala's , MVP of Meralco, the Jesuit priest which owned Ateneo University where he is currently employed) and the reason why he had a professor job.
