Hated Shumacher the cheat with a passion years ago when I started following F1. And with respect to Zhou finally getting an F1 seat at least he's as deserving of that seat compared to that piss poor driver Tsunoda. If it wasn't for Honda am sure that kid wouldn't be getting that seat with Alpha Tauri at all.
I gotta disagree. Schumacher was a genuinely good driver. And Tsunoda is no poor driver - he's one of the brightest young stars in F1. He racked up a couple points in his rookie season. That's damn impressive. No joke he deserves to be in F1 based on raw talent. He just needs to control his temperament.

I mean maybe Honda helped push him in but who's not to say maybe Zhou got in to a small extent because of a big commercial partnership or sponsorship with a Chinese company?

Also a couple of years ago Lewis Hamilton drove for McLaren because of the same nationality.

Money talks. That's why Force India is out of F1, because the country got no money or automotive industry and lost the Force.:rolleyes:

'Force India' has got to be the biggest oxymoron around.

EDIT: Some say Zhou is gonna be booted out after one year but I hope he stays and maybe some Chinese company can sign a sponsorship to keep him around to showcase his talent. I mean it's not like he got into the highest league based on cronyship. He won some Formula Two races. That's solid.

EDIT2: They need to make some changes to F1. There's not enough overtaking and they need to reduce constructor advantages.

Oh am not saying that Schumacher wasn't one of the absolute best in the history of the sport I just hating him back in the days due to his sheer dominance of the sport, plus I preferred Jacques Villeneuve for his driving and eccentric personality. As for Tsunoda, I was kind of expecting more from him because I wanted him to succeed so that he's just not seen or perceived as a seat holder like how Japanese drivers were perceived to be. But he's recent piss poor performance drives have soured my opinion of him unfortunately. I hope he can and will bounce back and stay in F1 not just as one of the token Asian representative but as one of the drivers to be feared and most of all respected for his skills. Which is why am also ecstatic for Zhou landing an F1 gig since I have been following his career for quite some time and I have an inclination to believe that he's got what it takes to succeed in F1.

I stopped watching F1 a few months ago so I don't know what happened to Tsunoda. He was on a tear the last thing I followed him.

Now that Zhou is in I'm definitely going to watch the F1 2022 season. Especially Monaco. Hopefully Singapore comes back because it's a fantastic night race. Hopefully I can drive as Zhou in F1 the video game 2022 edition! @Bellum_Romanum do you like the F1 video game? The 2019 version was pretty dry and a little too technical.

It's really disappointing that I can't attend the 2022 Beijing Olympics but I hope to attend the Shanghai Grand Prix. Please. No more restrictions.

Same here. But my personal desires take a backseat to what's ultimately important which is for China and her people to be as safe as possible from the western collective incompetence in handling the pandemic.

China sticking on its guns. CAI will only move forward if EU drops its sanctions

For China to send such a message publically, it means that all these "collapse" stories are all fake news and instead China has gotten much stronger these days

I think China collapsing now is like the US collapsing. It is definitely still possible, but their economy is so big and mature that they can create financial magic to fix the issues. Actually both have been doing it.. the us just printing money to give to wallstreet and encouraging fake asset like crpto/nft, china stimulating the economy via creating jobs for infrastructe/housing/factories/belt n road etc

The only difference is that China at least has a vision on where it wants to go. 2025, 2035, 2050. All clear and long term plans

And China is now in an unprecedented (in recent years) transition from the old economy to a new development model. This recent plenum has already significantly strengthened Xi's political strength.
I expect even more reforms coming up now as Xi will be able to push through against entrenched interests

I was a bit doubtful before but it seems that it is real. Biden will soon announce a diplomatic boycott

I don't think the US has thought about it clearly. By abstaining they will force many EU and some other well-known puppet countries , to do the same. However, representatives from the developing world who will surely attend, will be seen by the West as "friends" of China for betraying the "noble" cause of boycotting China.
Imagine Eurasian, African, ASEAN, Latin America representatives attending the Olympics while the West "boycotts".

It will lead to even more fractures between the West (mostly US) and the rest of the World for almost 0 cost to China.

After all, China's strategic friends were always the Global South and not the Global North.

Biden and his delusional Blinken, once again prove that while they play 2D chess, China plays a multidimensional 5D Go game.
