I just meant as a kid watching the 1997 Air Force One movie, who would have though in slightly more than 2 decades that China would have come so far now... While I think the twitter post above is probably not legit/real, its not entirely stretch of fiction anymore...
Anyway what happened to Meng should have never happened in the first place.... So now China is better to be safe than sorry.... even that abnormally north flight path to avoid Alaska etc was intentional it seems....
In terms of movie analogy this time General Ivan Radek (Meng) got away and got back home to Shenzhen (Moscow) safety and the American side wasn't able to shoot Meng down retroactively after the hostage exchange occured...

From what is happening currently, the opposite is happening instead where the west is the one that is being destroyed.
