They rolled out a red carpet for her. She has gained fame from this. How she handles her future will be somewhat interesting but I still don't think she becomes a candidate for general secretary due to this how many years, decades from now.
Not in politics, but rather what her roles will be in Huawei and what choices she will make for herself in the company after going through this ordeal.

This was timed by the US because Biden wasn't going to deal until some time after entering office. Also maybe even the Canadian election had something to do with it too. When did Trudeau call for these elections? The decision had to be sometime in between.
I though this when he first entered office, that he had to show that he was tough on China initially before turning it around.
This allows him to say he was tougher on China than Trump and allow him to keep saying that as he reduces barriers while spinning it as a win for the US.

But I am not so sure now

Yes but they probably knew they were going to let her go soon after Biden won the election. When were they going to do it was the question?
