And speaking of Axios state propaganda.

2027 Taiwan has become 2030-2031 Taiwan. The Trump China hawks are not happy with him showing mild appeasement with China. So they are pushing a new narrative.

Trump advisers fear China may target Taiwan in next 5 years

Some close advisers to President Trump fear the biggest substantive result of the China summit is heightened danger that Chinese President Xi Jinping will invade Taiwan in the next five years, potentially choking off the chips used to power AI to U.S. companies.

What they're saying: Trump loved the pageantry and the special access Xi shrewdly rolled out during the Beijing visit. But the words didn't match the bonhomie. One Trump adviser told us Xi is "trying to move China to a new position where he's saying: 'We're not a rising power. We're your equal. And Taiwan is mine.'"

"This trip signaled a much higher likelihood that Taiwan will be on the table in the next five years," the adviser added.

"There's no way we can be ready
economically — the chips supply chain won't be anywhere close to self-sufficiency. For CEOs, and really the economy as a whole, there's no more pressing issue than the supply chain for chips."

The big picture: Trump won praise from several CEOs for pushing very hard on Iran and Venezuela and opening markets. Some CEOs came away hopeful that their companies will get licenses to operate in China, and credited POTUS.

Trump on Taiwan: When you look at the odds, China is very, very powerful, big country. That's a very small island. Think of it, it's 59 miles away. We're 9500 miles away. That's a little bit of a difficult problem. Taiwan was developed because we had presidents that didn't know what the hell they were doing. They stole our chip industry.

Yes, Beijing indeed has indeed TACOed (XACO) toward the EU when it comes to trade, especially in EVs and after French authorities harassed TEMU shipments. Beijing’s retaliation were symbolic and did little to hobble EU’s export to China.
I don't think so. When you take individual articles instead of trends, anybody can be made to believe in anything. Here is data:

"The first four months of 2026 show how unbalanced the relationship has become. China’s exports to the EU reached US$201bn, while its imports from the EU were only US$88bn. The result was a US$113bn surplus in just four months. This is not simply a story of rising trade.

The imbalance widened fast. Compared with Jan-Apr 2025, China’s exports to the EU rose by 19%, while imports from the EU increased by 12%. Since the export base is already much larger, China’s surplus with the EU jumped by 26% in just one year."

Also, they just had to watch their boss and bully get folded in Beijing, so there's that as well.
