No China is making trade impossible for the West. Before China, was the West thinking about the Global South? No, they were drooling over all the money they were going to be making doing the very thing they’re accusing China of doing now. The only chance any third world country had of manufacturing for themselves was if a Western country invested so they can make sneakers for someone else. It’s disingenuous how the West is talking as if China is denying the world. No, China is denying them and that’s the way it should be. The great natural equilibrium. Frankly any other country is probably one that has bashed China for the West. How about they think they’re superior and would do a better job than Chinese ever would to sell themselves so the West look towards them than China. If they’re suffering from China’s manufacturing superiority… I don’t care!

Yes a lot of discussion around this lately because Europe is floundering like a fish out of water. They have nothing to contribute to the world with China in the way. They essentially don’t have their colonies like they use to so what are they? People see the arrogance of nothing trying to make themselves into something.

Ofcourse its a big loss. Its not like China doesn't have a Chinese equivalent of these services such as Amazon, Google, Airbnb and so on. But Chinese companies are lacking in ambition to launch global versions of their services. They could provide the same service cheaper and take a huge chunk of the revenue from US tech companies.

By taking global market share, Chinese tech companies could have much higher market cap and thus raise wealth of Chinese citizens. They could hire more engineers in China and also raising GDP per capita in the process.

Overall, this is easy money they are missing out.
In order for that to happen there needs to be a state directed initiative to incentivize companies to expand globally. Korean and Japanese companies and media had to expand globally the way they did simply down to the fact that their countries being as small as they are necessitated expansion or be crushed by the weight of American companies. In some ways, China's population has become a sort of quasi Latin American resource curse where just due to having 1.4 billion people, Chinese companies can make billions on just the Chinese market alone and Nezha 2 with zero global appeal can still make over 2 billion dollars.

For people in China who just want to strike it rich that's all they'll ever need. For the CPC that wants to expand Chinese prestige globally, they'll need to coordinate with the nation's tech and entertainment giants to break into global markets.
