They were coerced.

I think there probably only 5 million people in that country, that lives besides mother Russia, and needs you know who for protection, in order to stay alive.

If they are not part of what they just quit, not sure anyone will notice. They got bullied big time.

The irony is their relationship with China probably will not change one iota.
Considering the blatant inconsistencies and factual errors in their narratives are impossible to miss even for little ole me, it does suggest they were likely strong-armed into (out of?) it.

NATO member notwithstanding, maybe they should re-evaluate their relationships with the big dogs, particularly the rather imposing one in the neighbourhood *glances at Russia*. But then again, Belarus is hardly a role model in that respect. Meanwhile Turkey juggles between both sides but gives no sh*t about either one... is kinda inspiring TBH. :D

That's exactly what I think about it. For example, let's think about the Netherlands whose government blocks the sale of EUV lithographs to China:
- It is a stable and prosperous country that the US can not stir troubles.
- It has zero threats of military nature to itself.
- It trades more with China than it trades with the USA.
- It is a Euro using EU member so the USA cannot heavily sanction it without triggering an EU response of the same order.

How can the USA pressure such a country? Personal threats to government officials is the answer.
Exactly right, because let’s not forget, American mafia ideas of a ‘fair trade’ and compromise is always someone else compromising to give America what they always wanted in exchange for America not causing them trouble.

They find Chinese behaviour so objectionable because China actually offers real, tangible benefits in exchange, and so is starting to upset the whole America way of doing things because smart and independent countries are realising not only that there is another way, that there is a better way. That is why America needs to resort to blackmail and extortion.

don't bother too much with them. They are the new US lieutenant so that was expected from them.

What I find surprising was Poland still not quiting as well. In case you didnt known, US basically owns Poland, so seeing that they try to keep relations with China is impressive

IMO this further supports my view that China should support nationalists around the world. Poland is already governed by a right wing gov which is proud of their country and they wont change their policies to please the Western Europe

China should support these parties which are right-wing, proud of their countries and not afraid to go against the West when necessary

Btw Hungary is the same...
Honestly it depends on the right-winger. The enemy of my enemy isn't necessarily a friend, which goes beck to the earlier conversation about France, for instance. With the election less than a year away, while I'm not optimistic about Le Pen's chances of actually winning (not for lack of trying), and that's assuming Macron doesn't screw up royally for the rest of the year, either way she's not exactly someone China should be chummy with.

Yes, she's anti-NATO and would rather get in bed with Putin, but only because she reckons France would be better off with Russia on Europe's side instead of the US.

And perhaps more relevant in this discussion, it's so that Russia and China don't become the best buds that they are right now since she thinks that slot could've been more suitably (and rightfully) filled by France instead. And with Merkel on the out soon, a more assertive France could certainly pick up the slack as the next de facto honcho of the EU, which is exactly Le Pen's game plan against Macron for 2022 by painting him as the bootlicker that leads the country and its people to nowhere.

Were she to actually succeed, and please excuse the vulgarity, but her proverbial appendages will be wide open for Putin. And between bagging Europe or China, I honestly can't say for sure Putin would ultimately pick the Chinese if presented the option.

Thats a valid concern for sure. But Russia and China have shown in the past decade that they are highly pragmatic and they wont touch each other core interests

And why should China be concerned about France turning to Russia? China should welcome it instead

It would dramatically weaken the EU, and China would find a way to start "buying out" the smaller EU countries. Plus the Eurasian dream would finally start taking shape

With such an influential European power turning to Russia, it would create a super-sized axis from Europe to Asia (including smaller countries in the way)

This would be a miracle for China. It would weaken the US dramatically in the EU.

It wont happen of course but its nice that we can theorycraft about it. The neoliberals and the US will never allow Le Pen to win.

Wait a few mo.the and then a mass propaganda attack will happen against her, again

Don't think this really belongs to the space news thread. But then again this also isn't exactly "breaking news." But let's call it "early-breaking news." Just for fun.

Vikrant started construction in 2005 and is still under construction. Maybe they are installing naan breadmaking machines accounting for the delay.
