I dont believe Trump is actually stupid. I think 1) he believes himself to be far smarter than he actually is 2) he believes everyone else to be dumber than they actually are.
I dont think Trump himself considers the operation in Iran a, "great victory," but rather he honestly believes he can sell it to everyone else as a major win.
To give credit where it's due, it appears that Trump did manage to both successfully outmaneuver Netanyahu and obtain buy in and cooperation from the Iranian side in putting a hold on the conflict.
