What? How? China isn't going to just become a spectator on that possible conflict because N.Korea is literally right next door!! Besides, if any of the current leadership in China is just going to allow the slaughter and mayhem to happen against it's ONLY DEFENSE TREATY country, then China is going to be surrounded from all sides.
i'm not saying it's going to work, or that they'll even try given the current balance of power. i just meant north korea was on the original list made back in the 90s. and out of that list, libya, iraq, afghanistan, and syria are already checked off. iirc iran, north korea, china, and russia are the only ones left standing. north korea really did the right thing by rushing to a seemingly viable nukes arsenal while the US was strategically distracted.

I highly doubt that will remote work given its national stupidity index is through the roof right now. I mean they elected Trump twice, that should be an indication that the USA is beyond help

XJP Thought can lift 800 million people out of poverty! Deprogramming Joe the Plumber should be a piece of cake in comparison… The Americans hate the corporate overlords doing massive layoffs and outsourcing, hate money being used on foreign wars instead of infrastructure, education, and healthcare, and above all hate how the good for nothing politicians are running the nation into the ground. They just need a proper conduit to channel their anger!

Funny enough, I just completed a 6-day Xinjiang road trip to the Kazakhstan border, finished yesterday...Xinjiang is unfathomably vast, humongous beautiful place, highly recommend.

There is no way China can send a large land army to aid or protect Iran from Xinjiang, that's not physically plausible or realistic.

Xinjiang is super vast and very rugged terrain. Even if Xinjiang has world-class infrastructure in the high mountains, it's still a one-lane per direction highway that can be clogged by a rogue cow on a good day, the capacity isn't there. There is no way China can sustain a land army through the Kara-Kunlun mountains into Pakistan, through Balochistan (terrorist haven), and into the Iran plateau to Tehran. It would be so logistical difficult over some of the most isolated and rugged mountain ranges on earth.
Iran itself is quite mountainous and will be very difficult to conquer for any invading army.

Starship can't even get off the ground. It seems like a pipe dream at this point to use a variant of it for manned moon landing, which requires in-orbit refueling.

You only need to watch the first 43 seconds to see how the US military leadership really views this Iran war. It's really ALL about China. Clip of General Michael Flynn giving his thoughts on Bannon's podcast, being discussed on an anti-imperialist YouTube channel.
The saving grace for China is that only 16% Americans supports a war with Iran.

If you have been paid at least $1.8 million by the Israel lobby, you tend to pay more attention to Iran than the welfare of your own people.

Well, according to New York Times:
U.S. intelligence officials said Iran was likely to pivot toward producing a nuclear weapon if the U.S. attacked a main uranium enrichment site, or if Israel killed its supreme leader.

Forgive my pessimistic feelings on this, but such a thing is going to require someone of similar caliber to XJP to save this nation, and given how crowded this nation is with these parasites, it’s going to take a while for such a leader to manifest and even worse, it’s going to take a literally act of God to keep such a person safe from all those crazy people that don’t won’t to be saved. Whether the world can afford to wait for such an awakening is unlikely and I fear the USA will have to suffer first before the nation can be freed from these controlling bastards. In the end, the world will move on forward with or without the USA

Japan Rice prices more than double in May as core inflation jumps to highest levels since 2023

Rice prices in Japan more than doubled in May, spiking 101.7% year over year and marking its largest increase in over half a century.

The huge spike follows a 98.4% increase in April, and a rise of 92.1% year over year in March.

Japan’s rice prices have been in the spotlight in recent times, with the government releasing emergency stockpiles to moderate the price of the country’s staple food.

The surge in rice prices comes as Japan’s core inflation rate climbed to 3.7% in May, marking its highest level since January 2023.

The figure — which strips out costs for fresh food — was higher than the 3.6% expected by economists polled by Reuters, and is above April’s reading of 3.5%.

Headline inflation came in at 3.5%, lower compared to the 3.6% in April. This marks the 38th straight month that inflation has run above the BOJ’s 2% target.

The so-called “core-core” inflation rate, which strips out prices of both fresh food and energy and is closely monitored by the BOJ, climbed to 3.3% from 3% in the month before.

Kei Okamura, a portfolio manager at Neuberger Berman, said that the inflation numbers were not unexpected given the rise in food prices.

“We are of the view, though, that over the next several months, we should see a waning of these price pressures from foodstuffs,” he said on CNBC’s “Squawk Box Asia”.

He added that rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East could also have an impact on energy prices.

The inflation figure comes as the central bank held rates at 0.5% after its monetary policy meeting earlier this week, although it said in its statement that moves to pass on wage increases to selling prices have continued, propping up core inflation.

BOJ Governor Kazuo Ueda reportedly told Japan’s parliament last week that the central bank will continue to raise rates “once we have more conviction that underlying inflation will approach 2% or hover around that level.”

However, the bank is forecasting that inflation will be expected to wane moving forward, adding that “underlying CPI inflation is likely to be sluggish, mainly due to the deceleration in the economy.”

Separately, Japan’s GDP also shrank 0.2% in the quarter ended March compared to the preceding period as exports declined, marking the first time in a year that the economy contracted on a quarter-on-quarter basis.

The huge spike follows a 98.4% increase in April, and a rise of 92.1% year over year in March.
Japan has so far decided to release all but about 100,000 tons of reserve rice from its stockpile of 910,000 tons.

Since March 2025, 800,000 tons of rice or nearly 90% of their reserves have been released.

Yet prices still haven’t gone down.
