Frank Dikötter is a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution who has recently returned to the United States after living in Hong Kong since 2006. In this provocative conversation, Dikötter challenges the prevailing narrative about China’s rise. Drawing from his latest book, China After Mao: The Rise of a Superpower, Dikötter argues that the Chinese Communist Party has masterfully projected the image of a powerful, modern, and economically dominant nation—but says that image is largely a façade.
TL;DW:
Frank Dikötter argues that China’s rise is deeply misunderstood: it's not a miracle of Communist Party planning but the result of ordinary Chinese villagers reclaiming economic freedom despite the Party. The CPC, still staunchly Marxist-Leninist, rules through fear, propaganda, and repression—especially of its own people. Economic growth has been overstated and heavily reliant on overproduction, WTO-enabled exports, and state control of key industries. Xi Jinping is no reformer but a paranoid authoritarian benefiting from past gains. China, he claims, is not a superpower but a fragile empire built on illusion, fear, and internal weakness. The West was naïve to believe engagement would liberalize China; instead, Dikötter recommends Cold War-style containment and patience—letting the regime rot from within.
Personal Opinion:
Listening to these neofascists/neo-imperialists makes me realize that these "fine" people and their apparatus have truly become adversaries of not only China and Russia but also the rest of free and sovereign countries and humanity as a whole. Who gave these Anglo-supremacists the right to rule over the rest of humanity ?
The amount of projection is off the charts. These far-right Neo-imperialist are desperate their dictatorship over the world will fall.
I fear that these lunatics, ghouls and liars in their desperation and fear might do something even more stupid (i.e. fanatic/fundamentalist) and plunge the world into another major conflict.
US and US vassal state interference in Hong Kong is ignored by neocon propagandists and painted as "delusion" by Dikötter and the other neocon regime bot:
Peter Robinson: "... But
the notion that the
United States was
behind the
democracy movement in
Hong Kong or
that somehow or other it was capitalists who organized the events in Tiananman Square in 1989. That
is delusional..."
Frank Dikötter: "...
Yes and you know what it's called."
Peter Robinson: ".. So
how do we deal with these people if they're delusional?"
Frank Dikötter: "It's very difficult...
be very patient I would say
peaceful evolution..."
Serious Question: How does China, Russia and the other free and sovereign nations plan to deal with these lying lunatics such as these ?
(Good Lord these people are insane/totally delusional and their projection is totally off the charts. Unreal!)
