This is pretty typical for North American aerospace startups: investors and clients all want you to do local production, but nobody actually has any money to pay for local production, so you invariably end up relying on Chinese suppliers for all critical components while telling everyone you will switch to local if money shows up, money that never actually shows up because there's always at least 1 order of magnitude delta between what investor/clients think it cost and what it actually cost, because literally nobody in the entire continent knows anything about manufacturing.LMFAO

And even then, just like Skydio's battery supplier, chances are the local supplier you thought was local was actually just a reseller.
