This is pretty typical for North American aerospace startups: investors and clients all want you to do local production, but nobody actually has any money to pay for local production, so you invariably end up relying on Chinese suppliers for all critical components while telling everyone you will switch to local if money shows up, money that never actually shows up because there's always at least 1 order of magnitude delta between what investor/clients think it cost and what it actually cost, because literally nobody in the entire continent knows anything about manufacturing.

And even then, just like Skydio's battery supplier, chances are the local supplier you thought was local was actually just a reseller.
Or in this case, the German JetCat equivilent they said they'll switch to can also be found here

I think China should develop weapons that are internationally illegal that aren’t meant to kill enemy soldiers but to maim… severely. I didn’t say to actually use them. Just advertise it. I’m seeing stuff where Americans are talking up experience as the US’s advantage in war. Not really because the US has never fought a modern war with a peer adversary. The US’s “experience” with modern warfare so far has their soldiers sit back and let standoff weapons do all the work to soften the enemy before they go in while their opponents don’t have that capability. The US Navy certainly hasn’t experienced modern warfare. Today, they’ll experience hypersonic missiles slamming into their ships. Hundreds of US military personnel will be killed at a time. It’s easy to be brave and cocky when you feel safe from attack. Their arrogance will be a disadvantage because when it starts happening like never before being experienced, it will be so psychologically devastating for them. Americans turned against the Iraq War when their meager casualties they suffered was too much for them and family members were left to mourn alone and not be lionized on national TV anymore. Why develop such weapons? To make Americans know what’s out there waiting for them so they’re afraid of war. Jan 6th was full of people who liked cosplaying soldier during the weekend. When they were in jail, they cried for the judge to release them because people in jail were being mean to them. How well do you think these people will handle being in a prisoner of war camp? See what I mean?
You're starting with the premise that China and US are equals, that China need to establish deterrence which implies what Americans think matters.

But China and US are not equals, the strongest industrial and technological power in history does not need to establish deterrence against a bankrupt nation that can't even afford basic infrastructure, what China need to, and are actually doing is establishing dominance, which is the actual ability to crush the US regardless what US does or thinks, or as China's FM just said: if you want war, we'll give you war.

It may provoke Trump, but Canada should cancel the purchase of F-35 fighter jets from the U.S.

As U.S. negotiators pushed for concessions on Ukrainian critical minerals last week, they

Here in North America, President Donald Trump is threatening to make Canada the 51st state, motivated –

of F-35 fighter jets.
The problem, you see, is that Canada will never have full control over the heavily computerized planes. Lockheed Martin, the giant U.S. defence contractor that manufactures the F-35, has always

the full “source code” with foreign customers, including close allies of the United States. The source code, comprised of 8 million or more lines of code, is the foundational programming that enables all of the aircraft’s functionality.

Since the source code is a tightly held secret, every training or combat mission flown by a Canadian F-35 will require a “mission data load” processed through specialized computing facilities in the United States. The load details the mission objectives and threat profiles and enables full use of the F-35’s

Now, imagine that the U.S. President wishes to strong arm Canada into making concessions on critical minerals or perhaps transboundary

. He could easily order that Canada be denied access to the U.S.-based computing facilities. Our F-35s would still be able to fly but their capabilities would be compromised.

If the United States wished to invade Canada, it could achieve air superiority – perhaps with just a few keyboard strokes.
Somebody should introduce the Canadians to J-35.

Reddit will warn users who repeatedly upvote banned content

Reddit will now issue warnings to users who “upvote several pieces of content banned for violating our policies” within “a certain timeframe,” starting first with violent content, the company announced on Wednesday.

“This will have no impact on the vast majority of users as most already downvote or report abusive content,” a Reddit employee says in the announcement post. In comments on the post, a user expressed concern that the new policy could make people “paranoid about voting,” but the employee says that “this would be an unacceptable side effect, which is why we want to monitor this closely and ramp it up thoughtfully.”

“We have done this in the past for quarantined communities and found that it did help to reduce exposure to bad content, so we are experimenting with this sitewide,” according to the main post. Reddit “may consider” expanding the warnings in the future to cover repeated upvotes of other kinds of actions as well as taking other types of actions in addition to warnings.

First, the kid CEO is lying about using JetCat, what they showed in the video is clearly the SW800pro. Second, I didn't realize that what they meant by German was actually Shenzhen, my bad. :D

You're starting with the premise that China and US are equals, that China need to establish deterrence which implies what Americans think matters.

You don’t think Republicans want to militarily attack China? They just don’t have a good excuse to. Why do Christians hate China so much? It’s because China just existing proves Christianity is a lie. If God favors the West, why is he giving China this strength? The only way the US can right these wrongs is through defeat of the Chinese. Rape isn’t about sex. It’s about expressing power. Killing is an expression of ultimate power. As the US has been saying of China because it’s “collapsing”, military conquest is a way to deflect attention away from failure. You know how the ignorant know that? Because they look at themselves at what they would do to understand what motivates someone else. The Romans thought they were undefeatable also. Their arrogance is what made them lose it all.
