He is the puppet master behind China's very successful navigation on the world stage in the last three decades. If we agree China is much stronger politically today than before, Wang is a key contributor.

He is not the same caliber as the Cold War geopolitical strategists. Considering that Fukushima got obliterated in a debate by the likes of Zhang Weiwei it doesn’t really paint a picture of competence for the Western koolaid drinkers.
