In order to do nothing, you'd have to:
1. Survive 20-odd years of insurgency
2. Survive the most brutal foreign occupation in history
3. Win a bloody and intense civil war
4. Liquidate the landlord class and the counter-revolutionaries
5. Implement land-reform
6. Mass Industrialisation
7. Public education and public healthcare, down to the most impoverished and remote villages
8. Win a grinding war of attrition against the US and its allies
9. Withstand your close ally becoming a revisionist, Socialist Imperial Power
10. Develope a nuclear arsenal and credible ICBMs
11. Figure out an entirely new political theory to govern your own nation
12. Survive the passing of your Founding Fathers
13. Recover from 10 years of political turmoil and struggles
14. Retain State control of the economy whilst simultaneously opening and reforming your economy
15. Survive the fall of other Socialist states
16. Eradicate religious cults
17. Withstand the humiliation of having your tanker seized, your embassy bombed, and your warplane rammed
18. Seize the opportunity to further develop your economy and modernise your military as the global hegemon gets bogged down inside the Graveyard of Empires
19. Make heavy investment in infrastructure whilst gently deflating the housing bubble
That's just on top of my head. Each point is worth of a library in its own right. India might have done points 2 and 3 (if you count the wars with Pakistan as civil wars) but they are still stuck on land-reform and industrialisation, let alone public education and healthcare.
Its funny because TSMC dont have enough years left to complete anything they invest, but in the meantime it gives Americans just enough copium to keep relying on TSMC.
I would love to be proven wrong because its too good to be true, but its very hard to believe US will actually let their puppet collapse
