I don't see it that way. Putin is simply giving Trump something to allow him to claim "victory" at home. Those rare earth are not that useful to Russia which already has a ton of them. Ending the war on strategically favorable terms is far more important. This is basic diplomacy, Putin does not want a lunatic like Trump to hold grudges against while he's POTUS. Plus he already stated in a call with XJP that Russia has aligned with China with a vision for the long term, so we know where Russian "loyalty" currently lies.

What about some news from a Russian source. Somehow I don’t trust anything from the USA or Moscow times (a known US backed outlet) given there tendency to bullshit. Besides, Putin didn’t get this far by being a pussy, he always has some kind of an angle that is not obvious to the USA right now, but it will be clear once some time has past and obvious in a manner that they can’t do anything about
