BEIJING, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), met separately with Sultan Hassanal of Brunei and Prime Minister Paetongtarn of Thailand on the morning of Feb. 6 in Beijing.

During the meeting with Hassanal, Zhao Leji said that China and Brunei are good neighbors, friends and partners who trust and support each other. President Xi Jinping will hold talks with the sultan to jointly open a new chapter of strategic cooperation between the two countries. China is willing to work with Brunei to promote traditional friendship, enhance strategic mutual trust, join hands for common development, and push China-Brunei relations to a new level. China's National People's Congress is willing to work with Brunei's Legislative Council to implement the important consensus of the two heads of state as the lead, strengthen friendly exchanges, deepen the exchange of experience in legislation, supervision and governance, and provide legal protection for the pragmatic cooperation between the two countries.
Hassanal said Brunei firmly adheres to the one-China policy and is willing to work closely with China in the fields of trade, investment, agriculture, fisheries and humanities, strengthen exchanges in the legislature, enhance mutual understanding and friendship among the people, and push forward the continuous development of the strategic cooperative partnership between China and Brunei.

During his meeting with Paetongtarn, Zhao said that China-Thailand relations have maintained healthy and stable development for a long time, thanks to the farsightedness and steering of the leaders of the two countries. China is willing to work with Thailand to take this year's 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand as an opportunity to implement the important consensus of the two leaders, accelerate mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, and jointly write a new chapter in the construction of China-Thailand community of destiny. Legislative interaction is an important part of building a community of destiny between China and Thailand. China's National People's Congress is willing to maintain the momentum of friendly exchanges with Thailand's National Assembly, and carry out legislative exchanges and cooperation on improving people's livelihoods, social governance, and combating cross-border crimes, so as to better serve the development of their respective countries.
Paetongtarn said Thailand firmly adheres to the one-China policy and is willing to work with China to promote cooperation in various fields, closely interact with the legislature, and jointly fight against cross-border crimes such as wire fraud, so as to push forward the building of a more stable, more prosperous and more sustainable Thailand-China community of destiny.
