I don't think Chinese retaliations to the US tariffs were this swift in the past. They were always considerate to try and negotiate first.

This could be many things, they are more confident now or are finally certain that there is very limited negotiation possibility now.
Its also disproportionate and multi domain, China is on the offensive and Trump just gave China an excuse to punish

He's playing with the media right now with all these talks of tariffs. Both Mexico and Canada's promises to "secure the border" are nebulous, and one wonders why Canada even has to secure its border to begin with since last year something like only 40 lbs of Fentanyl were ever caught being smuggled through there by border agents.

The real story that the American public should be paying attention to is how a billionaire private citizen and his team of college aged tubonerds can now access people's social security information and the payment systems of goverment, but once Trump announced the tariffs and caused stock futures to drop, all media attention was laser focused on that instead. With the Democrats having essentially given up on life and the media still true to its nature to chase good stories rather than inform, Trump and Elon will have the government completely in the palm of their hand. I gander it won't be long before voting on a bill to allow Trump a 3rd term will simply become just a formality.
They’re going to implement the “Chinese social credit score” of their fevered imaginations, unbanking their political enemies.

I actually watched the 2nd one, don't bother. The whole video is about how people should stop criticizing the US but instead offer up solutions. Ironically he offered zero solutions, I think because it means that he'd have to acknowledge that there are problems first.

Just on government devices, which I think is fair.
i suggest he go ride the subway between Queens and Brooklyn as often as possible. PS take Melissa Chen ching chiong and Gordon Chang chiong ching. The money generated from the faces of death reboot is enough to rejuvenate the local economy of tel aviv

It was apparent for a long time that the second Trump presidency was going to be a varied replay of the first, so they came prepared. Incidentally, playing hardball is the only language Trump and cabinet understand. The US is just going to have to eat these countersanctions; it will be interesting to see the overall effect on their MIC.

Tariff Commission of the State Council: Additional tariffs on some imported goods originating from the United States

On February 4, the Tariff Commission of the State Council issued an announcement on the additional tariffs on some imported goods originating from the United States.
In accordance with the Tariff Law of the People's Republic of China, the Customs Law of the People's Republic of China, the Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China and other laws and regulations and basic principles of international law, with the approval of the State Council, from February 10, 2025, additional tariffs will be imposed on some imported goods originating from the United States.

The relevant matters are as follows:
1. A 15% tariff will be imposed on coal and liquefied natural gas.
2. A 10% tariff will be imposed on crude oil, agricultural machinery, large-displacement cars, and pickup trucks.
3. For imported goods listed in the appendix originating from the United States, corresponding tariffs will be levied on the basis of the current applicable tariff rates. The current bonded and tax reduction and exemption policies remain unchanged, and the additional tariffs will not be reduced or exempted.

Will the 10% tariff on American pickup trucks incentivize BYD to start selling Shark at home? It is odd to me that BYD is not offering it in China.
