Monolithic vs Microservice
I am not talking about websites, even though the concept of microservice started from web application architecture. I am talking about methodologies in general. I am not boasting here - I am an expert in microservice architecture, in cloud or on-prem. Maybe some people would argue microservice and on-prem are oxymoron. But in my practices, software architecture has become ever more platform agnostic.

So why is above related to DeepSeek vs NIM?
From software architecture standpoint, up until DeepSeek R1 release, all hyperscalers deploy LLM models in a monolithic architecture. History of software engineering has already demonstrated that paradigm is shifting toward microservice architecture from monolithic architecture, particularly loosely-coupled micro-service architecture. There are exceptions in corner cases in various vertical problem domains. But general trend for large-scale cloud-native SaaS is going loosely-coupled micro-service architecture. DeepSeek R1 is the first top-performing tier-one model that can fit in, while other top models that hyperscalers have deployed are all monolithic that can only be deployed in mega data centers with humongous GPGPU farms. Therefore, one of the fundamental impacts DeepSeek brings upon the current AI revolution is that it has started a paradigm shift in deployment architectures. In other words, it is not that DeepSeek is cheap and free that bring so much fear, rather it is innovations in its implementation techniques as well as overall software architecture that has fundamentally change the game of generative AI.

This is just the beginning ......

This is an example of the success of the Chinese education system

The success of a small rural boy
keep this CIA bitch OUT!!!!!! I mean it China/MSS(full security for the team) this deepseek episode is no joke to these westoid losers of 2-3 trillion dollars/massive global tech hit -who the hell would hop on plane to Liang's home village -while speaking perfect Mandarin??"Where is your boy grandma, where???"

You know, FYI there are a lot of fanboys exist in China too.

This is why there are currently so many protests in Serbia to overthrow president Vucic because those CIA deep-state paid local traitors know that after the funds dry out, there will be no hope ever again. The protesters have small numbers but are blocking roads, buildings, universities, etc, behaving very aggressively, for the first time ever, probably because they are very indigant. If Vucic can weather this storm, he will be secure for the foreseeable future. By the way, Vucic gave Trump the right to build a luxury hotel in the center of the capital, before the elections lol, it really paid off. I was shocked at how easy it is to bribe him lmao. Keep in mind that all that 'Balkan' foreign aid was basically 100% anti-Serbian.

yeah sure one hotel can bribe him. unless you understand these things. I will not switch to Arabic what that really means.

I am still seething.

It is retarded and I stand by my statement.

"Open" AI went closed sourced. Before Deepseek appeared, people were locked into OpenAI just like they were locked in Microsoft and others that are also closed source. These users could have (and probably would have) switched to Deepseek without open sourcing or even providing a localizing ability because the costs would be so much lower.

It's totally stupid to give up a major tech advantage. Look at all these closed source giants.

"OPEN" Ai
Bytedance
Microsoft
Apple
Adobe
DJI
BYD
CATL

Are they stupid? Of course not. They have an intellectual property moat.

The point is that Deepseek's cost advantage would have gotten adoption anyways. So, open sourcing was probably a dumb move.

The second point was the robotics open sourcing. That was ultra stupid. Let's take just ONE case. Look at India, who is currently is a wannabe imperialist. Luckily, they are useless and weak.

But thanks to China's Agibot sharing its secrets via opensource, Superpowa 2012 India has a vast army of robots to take care of agriculture, work in factories, build infrastructure, build homes, bottle cow urine elixirs, make weapons 24/7, invade and subjugate their neighbors, and position missiles aimed at Beijing. They don't even need "so many white slaves" anymore!

Whoops

Do you see how fucking stupid this is?

Do you think the Indians will be grateful towards China Of course not, chinki. That's their term, not mine.

Moreover, no other group has achieved as much in humanoid robotics as Chinese companies. That tells me that moat is probably very large, which means it was hard to overcome anyways. That means that China would be the default victor of the robot industry. What did China gain by open sourcing? Nothing. That's why it's so fucking insanely stupid.
If DeepSeek's hedge fund owners shorted NVIDIA, they made more profit than OpenAI in its entire existence.

Because OpenAI has never been profitable, ever, and is getting more unprofitable by the second.

And now it never will be without massive government subsidies. All the loss is now locked in.

If DeepSeek did not go open source, OpenAI still has a possibility of being profitable with a captive market. They'll just ban DeepSeek. It then wouldn't matter how cheap it is. It wouldn't matter if it was even free. Tik Tok is free and got banned too. Open source is the only way to actually make a difference. You can keep a superior or customized model close source if necessary.
