POTUS can't unban TikTok because the ban is passed by Congress

Supreme Court gives green light to law that could ban TikTok

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Friday delivered a blow to TikTok by upholding a law that could lead to a ban on the video-sharing social media platform in the United States.

In an unsigned opinion with no dissents, the justices rejected a free speech challenge filed by the company, meaning the law is set to go into effect on Sunday as planned.

The bipartisan law requires China-based TikTok owner ByteDance to divest itself of the company by Sunday, the day before President-elect Donald Trump is to take office. If no sale takes place, the platform used by millions of Americans will in theory be banned.

I am curious how a sale of the US portion of TT would work. Don't US TT users have a ton of interaction with the rest of the world?

On the other hand, TT is a platform that has allowed the US to export soft power/cultural influence to the rest of the world. Without US users:
  1. There could be a real case for combining TT with Douyin, which would be less restricted by US rules and better for integrating China (cough cough, soft power) with the rest of the non-US world.
  2. Even if TT stays separate, it could become a more attractive platform without worrying about US censorship.
The CEO of ByteDance is a Chinese libtard so he purposely segregate the Chinese users from the rest of the world. He didn't do it because of American censorship.

Been thinking lately about the USSR.

On the big stage it did good showing it's physical prowess in stuff like Olympic boxing/wrestling/weightlifting and in mental stuff like chess. Had many world champions in both areas. It even went to space first.

In the end what good did it do? USA got beaten in these areas but it survived while the USSR is a thing of the past. The USSR didn't even get to die gloriously but instead anticlimactically as it basically shot itself in the head. Despite all these great demonstrations of power, it didn't have a huge impact to really dethrone USA.

Some compare China to the USSR but now it might not be the case. What China is doing actually hurts USA by taking away stuff like manufacturing and key technologies. In many areas it is still USA finding the stuff first yet failing to make use of it's potential. OpenAI looked hot when it came out but we can see corporate greed from guys like Microsoft is killing it's potential. China on the other hand figures out how to use the AI to achieve it's potential.

So if anything, it's USA that's in the shoes of the USSR now. More focus on image and looking strong instead of practicql stuff.
It is US that contaminated its land dealing with USSR. how US survived you can see from demographics. China and Asia prevented further contamination and water crises by taking manufacturing burden away from US.

Russia elites were wise enough that it did things that will damage the environment long term to places like Kazakhstan. thats why Russian muslims life expectancy is much higher despite always in conflicts. when they set the example Putin has the political capital for unpopular things like prolonging the war or student births. Chinese weopons cannot shortern the war when strategy behind the conflict cannot change and Russia already has world most powerful and advanced air force.

I’m sick of all the winning at this point.
At least when the winning wasn't so obvious, you knew who were the real ones who stuck with you. Now you'll have to keep watch for fair-weathers!

It seems like YouTube, Threads and Twitter are actively promoting anti-XHS content.

Their China trolls and haters are radicalizing our 3-4 million new XHS users quite nicely. We're doing nothing and they debunk the slander themselves.

What if the unaffordability of Western medicine drives the widespread adoption of traditional Eastern medicine in the US?

China has 11 provinces and 81 integrated areas to open the health insurance wallet.
BEIJING, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Reporters (Wen Jinghua and Xu Penghang) earned from the National Health Security Administration on Jan. 16 that 81 integrated areas in 11 provinces in China have opened health insurance wallets, which are capable of cross-provincial mutual aid for individual accounts. The National Health Security Administration will make every effort to promote the opening of other areas, and will soon go online to change the place of use of the health insurance wallet and other functions.

The 11 provinces that have opened the health insurance wallet are Hebei, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, Tibet, and Gansu, of which four provincial-level health insurance departments in Hebei, Xizang, Anhui, and Henan have fully opened the health insurance wallet within the province's (district's) territory.

On December 2, 2024, the National Health Security Administration officially launched the national health insurance personal account cross-provincial mutual aid. Employee health insurance personal accounts can be used across provinces for their close relatives to pay for residents' health insurance and pay for medical expenses.

Wallet transfer is one of the ways to realize the sharing of the medical insurance personal account of close relatives. Using the wallet transfer function, individuals can transfer funds from their own individual health insurance account or wallet to the wallet of their next of kin for use in settling medical expenses and paying individual contributions to the resident's health insurance.
