Look at how jealously these early adopter/sexpats are of the recent influx of americans and other westerners into XHS and seeing and meeting real Chinese for the first time without needing to go through a third party.
China has always drawn in and fascinated outsiders given the superiority of its culture and society based on the wisdom of its native Chinese philosphers, and because of this, outsiders - barbarians, if you will - will often try to control China and Chinese people and become the main conduit between China and the outside world. Why do you think anglo americans of the 50s had this view that they 'lost China' with the victory of the Chinese Revolution? Because they have always wanted to control China, and to prevent competitors from accessing the Chinese market and indeed, Chinese people, the anglo elites spread falsehoods and lies about China and the Chinese people so their own people wont go to China and see and experience China. You see this in how US elites like Trump and jim rogers get their kids to speak fluent mandarin yet the USG strongly wants to keep its people away from China.

The person has no idea that the population in the US is among the most brainwashed in the world, not Chinese. There are more than 250 million inbound and outbound tourists to and from China. Tens of millions diaspora Chinese have relative in China. The average Chinese is far better informed about the West than the other way around.
He should worry about the economy of the US.
