Xiaohongshu is great for other types of content too. I mostly see posts about food, gaming, architecture, and dramas. If Xiaohongshu can release a functional translation feature in a reasonable timeframe, I can see the app becoming mainstream. The recommendation system is much better than Instagram’s, in my opinion. Its long-term success is far from guaranteed at this point, though.
I haven’t seen many horny guys on there, but then again, I’m not on there to look at girls.
BEIJING, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) --President Xi Jinping held talks with Sri Lankan President Dissanayake, who is in China for a state visit, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on the afternoon of Jan. 15....After the meeting, the two heads of state witnessed the signing of a number of bilateral cooperation documents on the cooperation plan for the construction of the “Belt and Road” and the export of agricultural products to China, people's livelihood, news, radio and television.
Before the talks, Xi held a welcome ceremony for Dissanayake in the North Hall of the Great Hall of the People.
A 21-gun salute was fired in Tiananmen Square, and soldiers lined up to pay tribute. The two heads of state mounted the reviewing stand, and the military band played the national anthems of China and Sri Lanka. Dissanayake, accompanied by Xi, reviewed the honor guard of the People's Liberation Army and watched the separation ceremony.
In the evening, Xi held a welcome banquet for Dissanayake in the Golden Hall of the Great Hall of the People.

This whole TikTok refugee stuff is very entertaining. How long will it last? The US will just ban it. The US said targeting TikTok wasn’t about targeting anything Chinese. We’ll soon see it is what it’s all about. I like this fuckzuck movement where a lot of these TikTok refugees are also calling for boycotting all US companies that would benefit from a TikTok ban. Not sure how it’ll affect Facebook when people are already abandoning ship but I like.
Easy way to counter Rubio’s remark that China cheated its way to superpower status. The US was built on genocide, slavery, and rape. But Chinese don’t do that, right…? The Chinese don’t understand the concept of no good deed goes unpunished because they don’t remind the US and the West of who they are. The Chinese don’t counter and the West is under the delusion that they’re the good guys. Not a hint of a conscience in them.
Pyschologically they actually do believe China cheated, because they view that since US is hegemon, everyone else must be eunuch vassal, and because China did not vassal itself, like every other "normal" vassal does (per Pompous definition of normal), that is the 'cheat'... to dare to challenge the hegemon is cheating in and of itself the offense etc
Well, they get to choose to be seen as either a weak asshole (postpone ban) or a dumb asshole (double down and ban XHS too). We all know that the elites don’t want to be seen as weak so…
I wonder what the Sri Lankan president feels like when China treats him like this and countries like India think he’s below them

Every African leader knows how he feels. There are leaders of African countries that visit the US trying to meet the President where all they end up getting is a low-level State Department official. Then at these all African countries summits that happen in the US the President never has a one-on-one meeting each of them. They just have the honor of being in the auditorium with the President while he lectures them.
