I believe that Trump has much greater clarity in terms of where the US is going and what to do to change it
A lot of people despise Trump within the US, and even more people dislike him outside of the US. They call him all sorts of mean things, and dismiss him as a racist, cheater, liar, conman or even rapist.
There might be some truths to these criticisms. Trump is definitely relentless, if not ruthless. You might even consider him an "asshole." However, one thing he definitely isn't, is stupid.
To transform the United States into a superstate with a territory of 20 million km2, a GDP greater than that of China, endowed with immense resources of its own and controlling almost all sea routes, including half of the Arctic, contrary to all Russian interests in the region. This continental superpower will become a global power without the expense of a global presence, will control its entire strategic environment and emerge into a new multipolar world.
These objectives are clear, sensible enough to make sense, and very much oriented towards establishing Trump's legacy, which is definitely to be expected from him!
However, these objectives are almost completely unachievable within the timeframe of Trump's final four year term, short of war (maybe the DoD will even call it a special military operation instead of a contingency operation for once), or a sutprisingly fortuitous coercive annexation of Canada.

However, why even stop at Canada, Greenland and Panama? Might as well as make Mexico and the rest of Central America de facto American territories by way of a confederation agreement. No American citizenship for them, but the dollar can be their de jure currency as second class citizens. El Salvador is almost there already!
If all that can somehow be accomplished, and that is an extremely giant if considering the efficacy of Trump's first term, then maybe Trump will actually be entitled to insist that he did in fact "Make America Great Again!"
