What do you expect from Japanese leadership? The Japanese have banked their reputation, and fhe future of their civilization to the west ever since the Meji Restoration. We can see plenty of evidence for this assertion. Japan saw itself is the new heir or leader of the Asian block minus India. Look at how brutal they were and inhumane with respect to their war methodologies against a much weaker and divided China. And look how subservient they became even after getting NUKED TWICE by their beloved and honorary Shogun, the U.S.ofA.
The Japanese would rather be slaves to western powers rather than admit the reality of the world that China - whom they thought was never going to arise again into major prominence - will become the number 1 economic power in the world. They would probably commit sepuku? than to submit themselves to the Chinese.
