Chinese society is essentially sick right now if 5% growth can cause this level of discontent when other countries can easily handle negative growth.
Lol, I'd like to know which countries have negative growth right now and are all hunky dory?

Barring the hyperbole though, knife and car attacks are perhaps nothing new in China sadly, yet it is very concerning to see three in such short succession and producing as many casualties when before these attacks usually just result in wounded with minimal dead.

Its a given that the economy is having a bit of a hard time, but I do think some self-criticism is warranted in this case mostly with how broadly East Asian culture would make people lash out more severely when times are hard. Yes, compared to Western nations citizens of China, Japan, and Korea are more disciplined and thus follow rules more, have lower levels of street crime, and are more orderly.

But the flipside is East Asian countries are essentially pressure cooker cultures, where hypercompetition is promoted, emphasis is put on face, extreme judgmentalalism and classism is rife, mental health is stigmatized, tolerance for failure is practically nonexistent, and where most working class jobs are low paying and considered dirty work reserved for migrants. People are disciplined, but are also conditioned to bottle up whatever emotional problems they might have. In Korea and Japan, many people collapse under the pressure and off themselves, and in China nowadays it seems people who let their emotions get the better of them just let it explode into violence.

Its not like the government is unaware of this, but as the saying goes old habits die hard. (Which is why its so ridiculous to claim the CR destroyed Chinese culture.) When they banned private tutoring and beseached parents to let their kids have more free time, Chinese parents simply went underground to seek private tutors for their kids. When they banned 996, companies simply skirted the ban by cutting base salaries and incentivizing people to work overtime, as well as dangling the lay off list over the heads of every employee if they thought twice about work life balance.

The government can protect the public from future attacks by hiring more police and if necessary increasing surveillance, but on top of the economy getting back on track again some changes will needed to be made by the Chinese people themselves to decrease the pressure everyone is under.

Well if its any consolation to you, their numbers have dropped dramatically in recent years.

Global south outreach, increased inbound tourism, and attracting talent are priorities in the CPC's modern foreign policy. But you seem to disagree, so I'm interested to hear what you think they should be doing differently?
re: "expat" population
Hasn't dropped enough.

re:what would you do.
tldr=I would stop over paying like a chump. Second, I would focus on the real talent: East Asians and some non psychopathic whites.

One of the key problems I have with Chinese foreign policy in general is excessive benevolence. It's wasteful overkill. The Global South can choose to deal with
1. racist genocidal Caucasian rapist invader thieves. - demons
2. Win win Chinese partners - angels

@RedBaron these next 3 paragraphs are relevant for you too. Going full eunuch would be doing even more of the retarded crap below.
The choice is obvious so why is China "sweetening the deal?" like giving free scholarships to unqualified people, pairing up African men with fuck buddies at colleges, giving "expats" superior dorms to live in, giving them cushy jobs like airplane pilot where no doubt they can exploit to plow through more Chinese girls, give anti China racists teaching positions at prestigious universities so they can brainwash the next generation with pro-oligarchy lies and molest / rape on the side according to Western humanist traditions, etc?

They act like total chumps. This is how you train people who view you as inferior subhumans. That's why that African diplomat had the nerve to lecture China when some Africans violated the coronavirus quarantine and the Chinese response was to appease these African criminals. The African diplomat accused China of "racist oppression" because those criminals violated laws. How can an African get away with this crap? Why does China appease these criminal parasites? What are they going to do if you told them to pound sand? Go back to getting gang raped and debt trapped by the imperial west? Excessive benevolence doesn't make you seem like a hero. It makes you target #1 for exploiters who see a chump.

Look at these African parasites who ripped up their passports to squat in China. Why aren't they all deported? You stateless? That's your problem. Face it, our culture is far too benevolent. It is retarded. The number of foreign trash are low as a percentage now, but you need to be vigilant. Singapore used to be great but is in danger of being overrun by Indian invaders.

re: talent

Recruiting talent from the Global South is mostly false hope. What talent? If the Global south had talent, they would recover on their own (see Japan, Korea, and China who went through an apocalypse and recovered fast) and wouldn't need handouts. The vast majority of the world's talent resides in only two places - East Asia and Europe (and the many places they invaded and stole). Whatever "global talent" China gets by overpaying like a chump could have been recruited locally one block away in a noodle shop for far less resources.

The primary job regarding talent should be to stop the outflow of China's talent instead of importing foreign trash, which represents the vast majority of "expats". sex predator tourists rebranded as passport bros, child rapists rebranded as esl "teachers", anti Asian racists, CIA terrorist psychopaths, zero-skill economic refugees, western propaganda "journalists", "executives" AKA economic thieves engaged in arbitrage while providing zero value to China, racist incels, ip intellectual property thieves, etc. It's retarded to bring in this trash. They're worthless parasites that hate us and exploit us.

As much I despise the white savage, they are strong in science so we should work with them on a case by case basis, but keep the best stuff to ourselves. The whole openness of China's AI research is another insanity to me. Whites are lying about wanting an open AGI for everyone. Look at "OPEN AI that promised open technology and non profit. Now, it's closed sources and for profit - mega profit. This would not be surprising to those who are NOT duped by western soft power. The West is a 100's of year long perpetual backstabber. That's who they are.

One final point
China and East Asians in general need to understand their enemy fully. Avoid getting duped. There will never be any win win cooperation. Ignore all their fake overtures of peace. They're just like Minsk agreements - a stalling tactic to buy time before attacking again. Whites are preparing for the final fight by racing towards agi first. Prepare for a show down. It's us or them. Like 9dashline says, prepare to pull the rug. They've already tried to do it to us repeatedly so stop the insane idea of showing mercy. Someone who tries repeatedly to kill you (siop, Tianamen Square "massacre", CIA coronavirus covid 19 biological weapon attack, etc) deserves to be pacified permanently so they can't threaten us or the world ever again. This is true from both from a moral standpoint and a practical standpoint. If you let them live, they WILL eventually destroy you. Go ask the First Nations people, whatever is left of them after the West's centuries long racist extermination campaigns. We're not going to end up like them.

@Index
I mean even the "fascist empire" of the west doesn't kick out minorities simply due to statistical reasons. Especially not when said statistics isn't even from their own country.....but we can't punish people preemptively. We have laws up to death penalty to stop it, and track statistics.
Not comparable. Those are their citizens, which are different from racist sex tourists who China didn't need to appease. This is not about preemptive punishment. It's about keeping trash out.

You think we became the largest economy in the world by "santa clausing"? Do tell me more about how giving away your whole wealth will make you more wealthy than anyone else.
I never made these claims. Yes, they are Santa Clausing, but I didn't say that's they are giving away their whole wealth nor did I say that's how they became wealthy. I elaborated on this near the top of this post.

What are you even ranting about?
I was referring to the general inability of many users to frame things properly with the correct language. It was triggered by your earlier post
China could gunboat diplomacy through Asia, holding Japan and Korea hostage with firepower.
I've never seen you refer to usa as using gunboat diplomacy or taking those named countries hostages even though that's exactly what the usa is doing. Yet, you use these words to describe an imaginary Chinese aggression. Do you see the problem now?

how do I not consider the west as "fascist empire" and only as a harmless hegemony
Read my initial reply to you. I wrote your (and it's not just you. there are many users on this forum) whose language is the product of western brainwashing. Then I listed a bunch of examples, some of which came from you.
Its really amazing how within 10 years, Anglo soft power has went down so much. People used to think they have a point but now this comes across as just yapping from a hypocrite.

Ultimately if you are strong/weak determines if your soft power means anything in the end.
jfc....USA stil has hard power so why do people ignore what they say and call them hypocrites? This has to do with the democratization of media - especially social media. People laugh at the lying Caucasian war criminals now because their lies and crimes are exposed to the world by the people like Jeffrey Sachs, Ben Norton, New Atlas, Break Through News, The Grey Zone, Richard Wolff, Michael Hudson, Arnaud Bertrand, etc. No thanks to the useless Chinese media. Many of those media personalities have no hard power and work on a shoe string budget so it's not aLlLl aBoUt tHe hArD PoWeR like some keep ranting about. When people can debunk the West's Xinjiang genocide atrocity propaganda using a single side by side picture of Palestine / Xinjiang, the lies get shattered and they lose perceived credibility.

I told people this is exactly what should be done (expose their lies, destroy their perceived credibility) but noooooooo, I get swarmed by NPCs about "their hard power can censor everyone in the universe instantly". Ok, then how can all these people explain the giant drop in perceived credibility of Western regime media? They can shut down some people, they can't shut you all down everywhere, but NPCs cannot process this. They don't realize that, IF the west tries to censor everyone then the whole illusion of freedom of the press / free speech dies so they need to walk a tight rope of weaponizing some censorship. Currently, they overplayed their hand with excessive censorship to hide Israel's crimes so there's been a vast awakening to how utterly corrupt the Western regime media is.

Iran defies international pressure, increasing its stockpile of near weapons-grade uranium, UN says

Does UN chihuahua gang runs into everywhere?
Uranium enriched at 60% purity is just a short, technical step away from weapons-grade levels of 90%.

The IAEA also estimated in its quarterly report that as of Oct. 26, Iran’s overall stockpile of enriched uranium stands at 6,604.4 kilograms (14,560 pounds), an increase of 852.6 kilograms (1,879.6 pounds) since August. Under the IAEA’s definition, around 42 kilograms (92.5 pounds) of uranium enriched to 60% purity is the amount at which creating one atomic weapon is theoretically possible — if the material is enriched further, to 90%.
Come on, how hard can it be to test a fooking nuke? Just get rid of that supreme bubble bagged old hag.

Pressure is needed to weed out the weak. The west build their elite base by assimilation. The East identify elites by elimination. Simple as that. Xi Jinpin is an example. What does not kill you make you stronger. People are just spoiled. Need even more stronger pressure to make them less spoiled. Otherwise, we will end up with all sort of hippie and woke generation like the west.

They have public transport, higher density and better city planning. which means they do live near to where they work lol. Automobile culture is not good for working hour since traffic alone wastes a long time.
I wouldnt call it better city planning and i dont think humans want to be just factory workers only to be driven in a bus at fix time. plus the quality of work in soviet system. in collective housing one thing breaksdown it disturb greater number of people. People lose skills to work on there own homes. they lose skills to grow food, they lose that large family structures. for long life expectancy , wealth and excellence over generations individuals homes are must. The places where Soviet touched in terms of development the life expectancy is far lower while the place which participated in every Russian war with most medals per capita with least development during Soviet time the life expectancy is 80 years. it is these individual houses thats the difference. there are other things that i dont want to write

In Dagestan, life expectancy was 79.9 years
Soviet development has its foundation before in Russian empire. there many leading Jews that were studying in those institutions. This is misinformation that Soviet communist created a Superpower.

This is such an incredibly stupid and arrogant take that it betrays a lack of understanding of human society. I'm old enough to remember when folks were saying the same thing about China (heck, many still say the same about China today). The world has an abundance of talent on an individual level waiting to be harvested. Talent doesn't only reside in the west and east asia, pipe down with that talk.

DOJ Will Push Google to Sell Chrome to Break Search Monopoly

Top Justice Department antitrust officials have decided to ask a judge to force Alphabet Inc.’s Google to sell off its Chrome browser in what would be a historic crackdown on one of the biggest tech companies in the world.

The department will ask the judge, who ruled in August that Google illegally monopolized the search market, to require measures related to artificial intelligence and its Android smartphone operating system, according to people familiar with the plans.

Antitrust officials, along with states that have joined the case, also plan to recommend Wednesday that federal judge Amit Mehta impose data licensing requirements, said the people, who asked not to be named discussing a confidential matter.

If Mehta accepts the proposals, they have the potential to reshape the online search market and the burgeoning AI industry. The case was filed under the first Trump administration and continued under President Joe Biden. It marks the most aggressive effort to rein in a technology company since Washington unsuccessfully sought to break up Microsoft Corp. two decades ago.

Lee-Anne Mulholland, Google’s vice president of regulatory affairs, said the Justice Department “continues to push a radical agenda that goes far beyond the legal issues in this case.” She added, “the government putting its thumb on the scale in these ways would harm consumers, developers and American technological leadership at precisely the moment it is most needed.”

The Justice Department declined to comment.

Google shares fell as much as 1.8% to $172.16 in late trading. They had been up 25% this year through the close.

Chrome Access

Antitrust enforcers want the judge to order Google to sell off Chrome — the most widely used browser worldwide — because it represents a key access point through which many people use its search engine, said the people.

The government has the option to decide whether a Chrome sale is necessary at a later date if some of the other aspects of the remedy create a more competitive market, the people said. The Chrome browser controls about 61% of the market in the US, according to StatCounter, a web traffic analytics service.

Government attorneys met with dozens of companies over the past three months as they prepared the recommendation. States are still considering adding some proposals and some details could change, the people said.

The antitrust officials pulled back from a more severe option that would have forced Google to sell off Android, the people said.

Alphabet’s Google Bracing for Antitrust Rigmarole: Legal Outlook

Google Appeal

Mehta’s August ruling that Google broke antitrust laws in both online search and search text ads markets followed a 10-week trial last year. The company has said it plans to appeal.

The judge has set a two-week hearing in April on what changes Google must make to remedy the illegal behavior and plans to issue a final ruling by August 2025.

The agency and the states have settled on recommending that Google be required to license the results and data from its popular search engine and give websites more options to prevent their content from being used by Google’s artificial intelligence products, said the people.

The antitrust enforcers are set to propose that Google uncouple its Android smartphone operating system from its other products, including search and its Google Play mobile app store, which are now sold as a bundle, the people said. They are also prepared to seek a requirement that Google share more information with advertisers and give them more control over where their ads appear.

Lawyers from the Justice Department and state attorneys general included all of those options in an initial filing in October, as well as a ban on the type of exclusive contracts that were at the center of the case against Google.

AI Overviews

Google now displays artificial intelligence-based answers at the top of its search pages billed as “AI Overviews.” While websites can opt-out of having their information used by Google to create AI models, they can’t afford to opt out of the overviews because that would risk pushing them down in search results, making it harder to reach their customers.

Website publishers have complained that the feature dampens traffic and advertising dollars since users rarely click through to see the data being used to power those results.

Earlier: Google’s AI Search Gives Sites Dire Choice: Share Data or Die

Regarding data licensing, the antitrust enforcers plan to propose two options: That Google sell the underlying “click and query” data and also separately syndicate its search results, according to the people.

The company currently sells syndicated search results, but with restrictions, such as preventing their use on mobile. Forcing Google to syndicate its search results would allow rival search engines and AI startups to quickly improve their quality, while the data feed would allow others to build their own search index.

Breaking up android was dropped.
