"China calculates impact of losing most favored nation status
Pundits say US tariff hikes will hurt manufacturers seriously – and it may be time to upgrade their businesses" by YingJian

"China is expected to suffer from a 3.4% deflationary pressure if the United States revokes permanent normal trade relations (PNTR), previously known as most favored nation (MFN) status.

Beijing’s concerns about losing its MFN status have increased since the November 5 presidential election victory of Republican candidate Donald Trump, who has vowed to raise tariffs for all imported Chinese goods to 60%.

John Moolenaar, chairman of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), heated up the issue further on November 14 by introducing the Restoring Trade Fairness Act, which calls for ending China’s PNTR.

Moolenaar said that when China prepared to enter the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2000, the US Congress voted to extend PNTR status to China, hoping that the Chinese would liberalize and adopt fair trading practices, but “this gamble failed.”

“Having PNTR with China has failed our country, eroded our manufacturing base and sent jobs to our foremost adversary. At the same time, the CCP has taken advantage of our markets and betrayed the hopes of freedom and fair competition that were expected when its authoritarian regime was granted PNTR more than 20 years ago,” he said.

Republican Senators Marco Rubio, Tom Cotton and Josh Hawley on September 26 introduced The Neither Permanent Nor Normal Trade Relations Act to end PNTR with China. On November 13, Rubio was nominated by Trump to be the next US secretary of state. Rubio is likely to gain Senate confirmation and begin his term after Trump’s January 20, 2025, inauguration."

Very few Americans work in real industry so very few knows just how big a gap there is between the two.
To put things into perspective, my company recently received a quote for a machined part from a local North American company to save a few days of shipping, they wanted $5,000 for rushed 3 day turn. The same part from JLCCNC with 3 day turn plus shipping cost only $20, and the crazy thing is even if we machine the part in-house we'd have to pay more for just the material.

Honestly, this is par for the course when we’re talking about Anglos as a culture. Look at how the British etc just gave away Czechoslovakis to nazi germany back in the 30s, and the Czech leaders had to wait in a hotel room, not even in the meeting inside.

It will be the same when the idiot Filipinos and Australians will not be involved in the talks and negotiations when the Americans and Chinese discuss terms.

how nice it is that there is now a massive trade hub down south in Peru that will be sure to absorb all of that Chinese trade. How are Americans gonna pay for their gazillion dollar peanut butter when China and LATAM don’t need all them dollars to trade, and China just pulled a “Carlos the Jackal” on the USG and Federal Reserve.

The issue is that it seems the US has control of the time and place the conflict would happen. Eg. They have more control over Taiwan's political system and thus influence when Taiwan will declare independence. They have more informed over chinas external security environment than the other way around.

That needs to change. China needs to prepare even more so than the US so that when the US is prepared, china would have been prepared much longer.

If the US accuses china of weaponizing space, china should immediately throw the accusation at the US and start weaponizing space right away. Otherwise China will always be just responding and not taking the initiative.

I hope China is doing these things already and are just keeping it under wraps. But China cannot let the US dictate when and where the conflict occurs.

"Trump’s Ally Lummis Pushes to Sell Some of the Fed’s Gold to Buy Bitcoin

You know, for much of the 2010s China controlled majority of the world's bitcoin hash rate, even today its still the 2nd highest despite trading ban. It's the same as gold where China is the world's largest gold producer, but enforces an export ban.

So US selling gold to buy bitcoin, which is obviously intended to transfer national wealth into select oligarchs, might just end up converting China's bitcoin hashrate into gold production.

Wrong. The US is wholly unprepared for war with China at this moment. Sending CSGs into China's A2/AD complex without eroding capabilities would be suicide. They have recognized the circumstances and are actively trying to change that. Hence the battlefield engineering. By cutting off the US, it would effectively kneecap their efforts to prepare for war with China.
I think we should assume that the authoritarian enemy will fight as 1 combined mind and with the greatest efficiency available to their means.

We'll be pleasantly surprised if they're easily folded, but never assume it.

Why does anybody need a piece of paper to get into a fight? China stepped in Korea in 1950s without a treaty (the current treaty was made after the war is over). Besides, there is a thing called SCO, although not a full fledged defense treaty, you think Russia and China will let US and Israle beat a SCO member in front of the world without consequencies? I am very amused by the way your brain works.
Russia and China have already allowed a SCO member to be beaten up in front of the whole world, without consequences. And not only to beat up, but also to squeeze a healthy piece of territory and organize ethnic cleansing on it. Do you know Nagorno-Karabakh?

They allowed, of course, not the United States and Israel, but Azerbaijan, which is much inferior to them in capabilities. This, in general, showed the real value of the SCO.

SCO is not a military alliance... It has both Jais and Pakistan in it. Azeris fly China's aircrafts. The point of SCO is/was to help the anti terrorist war.

Quite soon in the future it's likely China itself will cripple for life a SCO member - India.
