Not necessarily. India is establishing a larger presence in Southeast Asia - see Singapore where Indian immigrants are climbing into elite status. If Indian immigrants become a “market dominant minority” in Southeast Asia they could become a serious challenge to Chinese interests there.
No, you know so little. Singapore has one of the strictest immigration laws in Asia. To get a PR there, one has to meet very strict requirements, such as having a proper job. To become a citizen, one needs to be exceptionally talented, or wealthy, and must go through rigorous background checks. Indians who are currently there in Singapore are only allowed to stay as PR for work. They are not allowed to vote, and they are not allowed to own property at will. When they no longer have the work to apply for PR, they will be kicked out very soon.
I know what you must be thinking. What about all these Indians who in the Singaporean government and elite circles? Well those are Singaporean Indians, and they are in no way similar to Indians. They have been in Singapore for generations already, and are mostly descended from Southern Indians, Punjabs, or Ceylonese. They practice their traditional culture, but they are also more Singaporean than Indian. You might think that they would easily align with the Indians of India. That is also where you're gonna be mistaken. When you're a living as a dignified Singaporean, why allow those Brahmin and Ksatriyas northerners from your ancestral land to come and oppress you again? In the office, these idiots would oppress the Singaporean Indians just like other non-Indians anyway. No brotherhood love there.
Singapore is still an ethically Chinese-majority nation state, and despite what the government says, is actively working to keep it that way. The Singapore government will not allow even white men to take over their country, so forget about allowing Indians from India to hijack their nation.
If we move out of Singapore. Then the influence of India in SEA becomes even bleaker. India is not very much liked in practically all of SEA. The Philippines govt pretends to love India, but its all superficial US-sponsored stuff. India is not liked by the rest of SEA because it doesn't offer much economic benefits, and does not respect SEA. India regularly place tariffs on major exports coming from SEA such as palm oil, and refuses to trade fairly. When the Jai Hinds come over, they like to lord over the locals and talk about SEA as if it belongs in their "Akhand Bharat" empire. Indian tourists are flocking to the beaches in SEA and are giving bad impressions. Why do they love beaches in particular? Because of sex tourism, and in those circles, they are increasingly becoming a menace. So India doesn't bring much economic benefits, yet they also act as if they are the new lords in town. Not gonna be winning friends in SEA anytime soon.
