Just going to leave this here for the members who did not pay attention during their science classes
If you type “炸掉” ("blow up") in Zhihu (the Chinese Quora), the first thing comes up in the autocomplete is "炸掉喜马拉雅" ("blow up the Himalayas"). Apparently there were proposals to create a massive canyon across Tibet to bring water to Xinjiang. But it was concluded that such projects wouldn't work even if the engineering challenges were met.
Animals are well suited for transportation in the terrain but I find camels to be an odd choice. Yaks are the preferred animals in the region.

But camels make better "lovers".
The more I think about it the more I feel like this is one of those ill-fated Indian defense acquisition ideas. Camels are not indigenous to high altitude regions. They won't work as well as yaks, which can be easily obtained from local Tibetan herdsmen.
