Ya from 2000 years ago... Notice China don't lay claim to northern Vietnam anymore, even though jiaozhi had been a province for 1000 years. Same with North Korea.

I can say the same for an Indian period from 2000 years ago, or Mughal Empire where the entire Indian territory is not part of today's map. So stop the double standard.

You can also find Chinese maps from Qing dynasty just over 100-200 years ago that is much bigger including Mongolia, outer Manchuria and parts of central Asia that China don't claim either.

My family is originally from Mongolia and outer Manchuria (near the mouth of the Amur) in my mom's side, you don't see me claiming it.

That map is only 260 years old, before USA existed, or India. Look at the Tibetan parts, just like Chinese claims today.

It is ironic at maximum levels that Indians are basing their claims on the artificial lines drawn by their colony masters, British without any concern to Chinese, Tibetans or even Indians. What an absurd world view.

One has to go by historical land of Tibet to determine current China/India border. Especially, when we consider that Tawang, with the second largest Tibetan Buddhist temple after Lhasa, is in under Indian control, it is clear who is in the wrong with the border dispute. Tawang is among the most important towns of Tibet after Lhasa and Shigatse. Leh and Gangtok are again very much Tibetan towns. British beat Tibetans and invaded these lands later India claimed them as their own. Nothing complicated really. Very strait forward colonization history.

Any how, we will live and see.

Army Officer, 2 Soldiers Killed In "Violent Face-Off" With China In Ladakh


Three Indian soldiers, including a commanding officer, have been killed in a "violent face-off" with Chinese soldiers in the Galwan Valley in Ladakh, where the two sides have been ranged against each other over the past few weeks.

An official statement said: "During the de-escalation process underway in the Galwan Valley, a violent face-off took place yesterday night with casualties. The loss of lives on the Indian side includes an officer and two soldiers. Senior military officials of the two sides are currently meeting at the venue to defuse the situation."

What's the official word on both sides? What I've gathered is it's basically confirmed that India lost three men, one of them a colonel. Indian media claims China suffered casualties with one set of numbers thrown around as 5 killed and 11 injured on PLA side. No small arms involved somehow, suggesting physical fighting and probably very uncontrolled with dozens of participants. PLA's casualties are unconfirmed and what number of fatality and injuries make up those casualties are also unconfirmed by either official words except Indian media suggestions which shall we say have proven to play around with the truth by some offensive margin.

Some Chinese affiliated with official media have suggested "casualties" on PLA side as well. Whether this is to appease India and not make the situation seem that bad for them so both sides can de-escalate.

So unprofessional on both sides. I understand not issuing weapons since soldiers on both sides have proven to be hotheads and very emotional and nationalistic but seriously, either have a proper go at it by following orders or stay put. How are they being commanded? Gives me a bad impression of the PLA, mostly the commanding instructions. What are they being told? If the IA comes with fists and sticks, engage brawl but don't give land? If this is the case, at least send MMA fighters. This event has given India some justification of escalating and has bought them a lot of pity support, while making it seem to many that China is attacking with more force than it probably really is. We'll have to wait and see how India plays its hand now.
