Live transmission from India:
quite hilarious lolz
The anchor is literally standing up and smacking his own desk in frustration

This is a terrible moment in human history. In almost all countries it is extremely hard to reach trustworthy news. It is 99% fake news. Media become an outright propaganda machine. I am not that old but 10-15 years ago news were 100x more reliable.

If the Indian army and government listens to this guy, I'm watching him live right now. Then God help us.

I agree that media has gotten more sensationalist and polarizing, but in terms of accuracy, it was always this unreliable and biased all around. Read Chomsky's Manufacturing Consent.

Xi Jinping wanted to push India to the brink, now I wonder what road this will go down. Could he possibly think this is a 'good' opportunity to settle the border issue once and for all...I mean, major economies are already in recession due to COVID. India is faring worse. China is barely coping with minimal growth this year. Does Xi view this as an 'opportunity' to settle some other issues at the same time?
What a pointless post! Anyone could replace Xu Jinping with Modi and China with India in your post. It is what it is. Two sides had a fight on what they believe to be their own side. Unfortunately people die and injured during and after the fight. Full stop! What a pointless discussion!

For people here claiming they are worried about China’s image in Westerners’ eyes, forget it! As if when China does what the West wishes, the West would in anyway sees China differently. Why would China do anything for anyone other than its own citizens? Likewise, India is the same. That’s why we are at where we are. IMO it’s all fair and square. Move on...

Nah, news was never really that trustworthy or reliable, the only difference is we can now check for more sources and sometimes have more direct info because of the internet, but it is also a double edge sword.

china and India should resolve their border issue asap. Do some landswap that is acceptable to both nations. It might looks ugly right now but will create everlasting peace and security in asia. Pakistan need to do the same with India. Quicker we resolve these minor border issue, more chances for trade and business to prosper in Asia.

That's why you can't trust Indian media sources. The enemy's casualties are always "Indian casualties + x" where x is a made up number.

They are saying 20 Indian and 43 PLA.

The Chinese side is not releasing any numbers, perhaps not to inflame tensions which would be smart. But they did release a statement saying India violated the agreement.

Whenever India is ready to renounce its claims on Chinese territory, I'm sure China will be happy to resolve the border issues. This is very similar to the 1962 skirmish: nationalist Indian leader catastrophically misreads China's strength and takes his country to an ignominious defeat. Like I said in 2017, there needs to be a new 1962 so Indians are pacified for another half century.

I support taking an off-ramp now if there's one available where China gets what it wants, but I must make the caveat that any de-escalation is only leaving behind kindling for another dispute a few years down the road. I hope there isn't such an off-ramp so India can be shown its place now, as it should have in 2017.
