I summarized what they said about this:
1. KJ-600 & J-35 has tested (including launch & land) in ground facilities for lots of times (likely hundreds of) in past years.
2. J-35 has launched & landed on Liaoning in a former trial, but KJ-600 has never done so on a moving carrier.
3. KJ-600 has done touch-and-take-off several times in 5th and 6th trial. You can see some tire tracks after 5th trial. Then more were added after 6th trial.
4. PLAN has plenty of experience for landing J-15 on carrier, and it's easy to apply it to J-35, bcz their kinematic features are similar. But KJ-600 is a lot different, with heavier weight, big panel above, and turboprop engines, etc. PLAN has no experience with landing that kind of planes on a moving carrier, and the landing situation on a moving object is very different from ground simulations. So pilots need many times touch-and-take-off to get familiar with the feeling. It's more difficult to land KJ-600 than to launch for pilots.
5. Maybe we'll see KJ-600 lands on Fujian in following 7th trial. If successful, the launch will be quickly followed.
The podcast was recorded in 16th Jan. After that, we can see the carrier was moved to dry dock for more integration tests & updates, preparing for the real land & launch. Landing KJ-600 is the bottleneck of all process. After this, other items are much easier and can be processed faster.
The public hasn't heard from Fujian for quite a period, so it's also a perfect opportunity to do this and release scenes before 23th April (Navy's birthday). Let's wait for good news.![Wink ;) ;)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
