Love this new found Chinese openness. Another striptease... I didn't like that earlier "fake" pic. Can't wait to see the whole thing... if real.

Oh my...if China's testing two stealth platforms this is going to set off a few alarms.

US has three stealth platforms in service: B-2, F-22 and RQ-170, and is testing at least two stealth platforms at the same time, the F-35 and the X-45. I don't see why China can't test two or more stealth platforms.

Huzigeng also claimed that the SAC is working on a larger multi-role fighter with stealth characteristics. So China is working on three lo-observability platforms all at once????

If this new picture shows the real thing, then yes, there are at least three low observability platforms being tested right now.

Not to spin the discussion into politics, but it's obvious why China's doing this. With a stronger hand transparency has become the better deterrence.

Well, the US tested and produced one stealth platform before embarking on parallel developments. It's just a bit surprising that China has enough confidence to attempt multiple at once without that bedrock. More importantly though, I was talking about the reaction of other countries like the US. Unless they have better intelligence than us (which is a good possibility), the fact that a second platform was being developed will be sending off alarms to defence experts across the world.

What I really want is a better picture of the lower half of the plane. People on CD speculated that the plane will feature internal weaponsbay as well as outwardly canted V-tails. Perhaps they altered the wing shape significantly as well? If the above changes have been made then this is not a simple "revamp" of the JH-7 platform, this is a completely new plane!

Can't help but wonder what engines are being used on this prototype.

This means China must be very comfortable and confident with its advances and progress made in the stealth R&D. I don't think PRC will attempt to pull off stunts unless it's like a huge breakthrough or they're very comfortable with it. If not, these platforms may just be prototypes or competing designs at best.

It's possible of course. Perhaps they feel like they've caught up enough to experiment rather than focusing solely on designs meant to go into production.

Re: JH-7/JH-7A Thread

... and now I'm more than interested to see the rear parts, the wing-part, the bottom parts, the front parts and .... :)

Actually I was a bit surprised about the last very quiet weeks after the story about the spotter being arrested, who took the J-15/J-10B-photos ...
Therefore, does anyone know where that picture was taken ??
At Xian, Shenyang, ... or again at Chengdu ?
