(1)Laser is still more accurate - not per se, but because it simply aims at the point of aim. Moreover, point of aim may be easily adjusted.
Satellite bombs are vulnerable to geospatial mistakes(especially in mountainous areas), and don't like elevated targets in general.

(2)Laser munition can be easily made to engage moving targets(vehicles, ships). Even flying targets, if you want to.
With Satellite bombs, it's a nightmare - or, to be exact, difficulty and results aren't too dissimilar from dumb bombs, just costs more.

(3)Laser munitions can easily be thrown somewhere where we know there will be 3rd party laser designation.
Doesn't work with satellite munitions.

Basically, satellite bombs can be understood(tactically) as much better dumb bombs.
Laser munitions, on the other hand, are actually guided.
Good and informative post. I read somewhere that an F15E (or maybe F111) downed an (airborne) Iraqi helicopter in ODS.

For all the reasons state by other, I think it is entirely possible they are lasser/beidu dual guidance just like Paveway IV. We are still all waiting for Chinese JDAMs though.

Basic bombing practice with what appear to be inert dumb bombs.

JH-7/A with two 500kg laser guided bombs on the inboard stations, three EFTs, and a targeting pod.

My sentiments about the inboard stations on JH-7/A have been made clear before -- and they've been demonstrated to be capable of carrying six 250kg bombs per inboard pylon.
Imagine how much more combat effective the aircraft could be if those two 500kg PGMs were replaced with twelve 250kg PGMs instead...

Nevertheless, it is perhaps a little bit sad and telling that even this below loadout is a more capable air to ground loadout than your average Russian strike fighter today, certainly not helped by the fact that the VKS doesn't have a mainline targeting pod in service.
At the very least, the PLA has seen to it that JH-7/As, J-10s and J-16s have that.

Having targeting pods is a thing, but having stockpiles of LGB is necessary... whatever advanced targeting you have, is you have nothing to drop is nonsense.
