Sorry to say so, but what a strange report.
I know there is a huge fan community in Pakistan who eagerly demand such an option, but I'm in fact shocked that "The Diplomat" now is a leaflet for Pakistani wishes!
Above all, China will not provide an offensive type like this from its own stocks and thus further fuel the conflict with India. Also, the JH-7A is out of production and the Chinese are in no way "eager to sell much of their JH-7 fleet" regardless its presence at Zhuhai.

Above all the technicalities and politics, assuming China is willing to sell, can Pakistan afford it?
JF-17 is designed the way for its cheap to build and operate, you can tell that by listing what they add on to the block 2 and all those j-10 rumors these years.
JH-7 on the other hand doesn’t look that cheap at all, even China just donates it to Pakistan for free, it will still cost them some amount to operate, Pakistan will still need to pay the XAC to produce the spears parts for you, and I don’t think Pakistan is able to afford another production line just to maintain the JH-7
At the end of the day, it is what the "sales" of JH-7 to Pakistan meant for China that count. And the economics (profit & loss) of it is likely not China's main concern.
If JH-7 in the hands of PAF guarantees safety for China's shipping route in the Western Indian Ocean, and in particular the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Aden, as well as access to Gwadar port, then China will find a way to get the JH-7 "sales" done.

Since when did you become and authority and China's spokesperson if china will sell JH7A or Give thme to {pakistan---.
What authority do you have as a poster on a defense forum to make such a statement---?

He used his understanding on China international policy and military doctrine to come up with such statement, which I agree. China is going to maintain a balanced relationship with India in order to create a relatively peaceful atomsphere in the region, regardless of the Indo/Paki relationship, and selling JH-7As to Pakistan will only provoke India and further destablize the region's fragile peace. Plus by selling an out of production aircraft to Pakistan means that China will need to reopen the plane's production line to produce adquate amount of spares, which will result in higher cost and lower workforce volume to produce other in-production planes. So it's a lose-lose situation for all sides.

Also why would Pakistan want an aircraft thats a generation behind of its counterpart( su-30MKI)? It doesn't make sense stratgically and economically.

Let me ask the same in return and even if I don't expect an answer as usually, let's explain:
IMO the answer is plain and simple the same: Common sense (= the JH-7A is no longer in production), a lot of experience (= it is an old generation type and the PLAAF never before sold used own frontline-types) and surely some sort of healthy self-confidence (= it is a forum and my opinion has surely the same weight as yours even if you don't think so!)

Why don't you post a link from the chinese govt that they won't do it---.
