could it be the same datalink pod that is usually has for Yj83, only two of them? Because, who knows, maybe the original pod was made to be used for controlling up to 2 missiles at once, and if one wants to fire all four at once then two pods are needed?

An impressive image showing several 9. Naval Division JH-7A and esp. the latest YJ-83KH variant.
IMO most notably is that rarely seen twin-EW-pod configuration. IMO it is almost the first image...

It is surely similar to the one used by PLAAF JH-7A for the KD-88 but I've never seen two pods so far and it is not a targeting pod.

Any info ?

Just for precise these EW pods have no comparison with them of EA-18G an Aircraft build for this mission true offensive EW fighter and these JH-7's pods improved defense capacity only, same for new on Su-34.
A JH-7 with it is not a Wild Weasel Aircraft ofc.

YJ-83KH is an improved version of YJ-83K AShM where the radar seeker was replaced by an IIR seeker (H: infrared). As the result YJ-83KH is less susceptible to normal IRCM such as flare or smoke, and has a good all-weather capability. Overall the missile resembles Japanese ASM-2 AshM. It is thought that the launch of YJ-83KH could be either fire-and-forget or having man-in-the-loop guidance at the terminal stage to achieve pinpoint accuracy. Therefore the missile has been speculated to have a limited land-attack capability as well. A datalink antenna can be seen on top of the forward body. A new datalink pod is carried by the aircraft for over-the-horizon attack. Like YJ-83K, YJ-83KH is also carried by naval JH-7As and H-6Gs. Its export version may be called

, which is claimed to have a stand-off capability against fixed land targets. CM-802AKG carries a 285kg warhead and has a range of 230km. The latest images (April 2017) indicated that

And why 2 similar missiles anti-ships/range KD-88, YJ-83 ?

Other thing YJ-91 confirmed exist in 2 variants anti-radras and ships there are a doubt for 2nd ?

I see this as such a great Naval Strike aircraft. Too bad it cannot take off and land on carriers

Here is the background of 27th Regiment of the 9th air division of Chinese navy air force station in Ledong. I thought there is another airfield in Linshui that housed J11 B regiment . With the new airfield in Spratly open they need at least another 3 regiment of J 11B . No wonder the line is reopen again

newspaper, launched a large-scale communication campaign yesterday on an air force regiment, equipped with the JH-7A fighter - bomber fleet belonging to the fleet from South.

Numerous photos, taken visibly during a photex (photo exercise), as well as a televised report and a press article, have been published and distributed on all the platforms.

Although not mentioned in any of the publications, this is the 27th Regiment of the 9th Air Division of the Chinese Navy.
The 24-member JH-7A fighter bombers are based in Ledong (东 东), a small autonomous county located southwest of Hainan Island and administered by the "Li" (黎族) ethnic minority.

This 27th Regiment Air Force Base borders the South China Sea and is less than 400 km from Woody Island (Paracels) and less than 1,100 km from Fiery Cross Island (Spratleys). This allows the aircraft to reach any point in the heavily contested area in less than an hour.

The location of Ledong in relation to the main Chinese installations in the South China Sea.

The 9th Air Division of the Chinese Navy was formed in August 1968. It is composed of 4 regiments including the 27th Regiment, which was the first entity of the Chinese army to equip itself with JH-7 / JH-7A. The pilots' transformation and the handling of the aircraft lasted a total of 8 months.

The other three regiments include the 25th regiment based at Woody Island and equipped with J-11BH and J-11BSH combat aircraft , the 26th regiment in Sanya with transport planes and helicopters, as well as a newly created regiment (?) With the ASW GX-6 aircraft and theKJ-500H AWACS .

It should be noted that we can see the distribution of the JH-7A roles of the 27th regiment. Some of the aircraft are assigned to SEAD missions - some equipped with electronic jammers and others equipped with 4 YJ-91 anti-radiation missiles - while the majority targets surface targets, at the sea.

As for the exact reason for this communication campaign, it seems to be related to the current situation in the South China Sea.

One also learns from the article of the newspaper PLA Daily that in March, several JH-7A of this same regiment had to respond to the "provocation" of the warships and the foreign planes. According to the Chinese army's communication habit, Chinese fighter-bombers may have taken the lead in this new hang-up in the South China Sea, prompting institutional media to communicate about this entity.
