Can't find the Q-5 thread but I think production of the attack craft is officially closed today.

The last Q-5 was delivered 25 October. Though it is not entirely clear, this is said in this item:

Nothing new about the rumoured JH-7B? Does anyone on this forum seen it (assuming it had it's first flight recently as suggested earlier)? Without disclosing any sensitive information at the moment, can anyone shed more light as to what upgrades has been performed? And of course, any pictures available? Thank you.

There are some threads in the Chinese forums that said the JH-7B has had it's maiden flight back on Dec. 11. I don't know how credible it is but now I see on Huitong's site today mentioning it as well.

Dec 11 ? Unlikely, more like about 3 months ago.

Hello guys!

I'm a long time follower of Sinodefence Forum - but never postet until today.

My question is, why develop, build and introduce JH-7 when better strike fighters like J-16 are soon available?
In my opinion it would be better to close the production of JH-7 and switch to more capable J-16, or dose the JH-7A/B fulfill any role which J-16 is not able to do?

I'm a long time follower of Sinodefence Forum - but never postet until today.

JH7B costs much less than J16, SAC can't make J16 fast enough, JH7B beats J16 in supersonic low level flight, good for sneaking up on ships which is what PLAN will use them for.
